Thread closures

I, and a few others were having a debate on the proposed lead ban.
There was no name calling, we were polite and we were all, despite our differing views, genuinely invested in the subject.
Why was the thread closed?

My guess is this has been done to death and not really anything new to be said on the matter……

Why not ask admin, as the OP I wasn't consulted but the post quickly moved from the "farce" debate to one on "lead" and developed a life of its own.

It’s probably the biggest issue for shooting at the moment and I think it’s important that the level of support for and against any further lead shot legislation is openly aired. The moderators did give plenty leeway before jumping in and closing the thread. I think everyone was able to get their own viewpoint across and it probably looked like we were getting to the point of repetition which on many threads is the point where personal remarks outnumber reasoned comment.
I believe that the information put onto forums ideally should be free from political and agenda based bias and allow shooters to come to their own conclusions based on facts rather than unsubstantiated generalisations.
Some in fairness are more concerned with focusing on the messenger rather than the message and don’t seem to consider that some shooters feel opposition to any further lead shot legislation is justified on the grounds that accepting further restrictions is not in our best interests , hence the disagreements.
I know no one in my circle of friends and acquaintances ,outwith shooters, that is even aware of any lead shot issue and not one cares. The concept that we are signalling our green credentials is lost on the vast majority of the population and the small percentage of non shooters aware of the issue probably would prefer to see sports shooting abolished completely.
I have no personal issue with Conor O'Gorman at all and have said so on forum and on personal messages several times but I do disagree with his flooding shooting forums with information designed to magnify any effect of lead shot dispersal inland on bird species for whatever that reason may be.
The personal remarks made by both sides makes it easy to forget that despite our differences on this lead issue more unites than divides us.
