Threaded flip up covers for S&B 56mm objective

Anyone know if anything exists that doesn't add to the diameter of the objective lens housing? Can't use a slip on like the Butler Creek etc as there isn't enough room between objective and barrel! Schmidt do appear to make something but I can't track them down and I'm not sure if they'll do what I need. Hawke also produce something but not sure how they attach or whether they would fit.

Anyone found something that works? Or should I just go back to the bikini covers...?

The ones offered by S&B are actually the Tenebraex models.

For 50mm S&B Polars, PMII, Zenith and Stratos the 50mm Zeiss flip up cover also fits, not on the Klassiks though.

I was expecting that this would also be true for the 56mm models. But on the 56mm I am getting different SKU's for Zeiss and S&B on the Tenebraex website. Pity, because the Zeiss are really nice (and expensive).

Thanks lads, Tenebraex SB5600-FCR appears to be the right one for my 8x56. Now to mull over spending more than £60 on one lens covering...

As someone with Tenabrex covers which come fitted from the S&B factory if it is in the P/M II, (i.e eye-watering price bracket!) I would say they will still cause trouble with mounting, at least more than what it is worth.

Either get a 'bikini' style cover or mount the scope higher (I would recommend the latter, unless un-moderated).

Might not be what you wanted to hear but it's the truth.

Cheers.

No that's exactly what I wanted to hear, I appreciate the honest opinion! Even more expensive to explore higher mounting options so I think I'll revert to the bikini covers. Less 'tacticool' is probably more appropriate for Schultz anyway...

As I have one sitting at home, I'll definitely give that a go

if you don’t cut all the way to the front of the ring then it still grips the scope with no issues. Hard to describe in words but only cut in from the chamber end as far as you need to go towards the muzzle. Mine is more a square notch and is about half depth but is enough to give me the clearance I need.

After spending a fortune on Butler creeks over the years that never seemed to last I bought a neoprene scope cover. It works well and protects the scope in the cabinet too

Good point, especially with my now quite full cabinet. I'll attempt 75's trick and if that fails I'll reach for the wetsuit

Make a bikini from an old damaged inner tube of a suitable diameter car/truck size then use a cable tie to hold it onto the scope, silent and cheap as chips. I do this.

I didn't - notched an old Butler Creek, which worked but looked a bit naff. A good deal cheaper though!

I use an S&B 8x56mm - currently with. vortex defender covers which whilst good need a black cable tie just to nip them up a bit as I find they can be a very slightly loose fit. Whilst not a show stopper this does irritate me a bit.

I found these (albeit in the US). Am I being a bit thick or is this all you need to screw the cover onto the scope or do I need the thread adapter on the second link too?

OPW are out of stock, but list them: Tenebraex Flip Cover Set for Schmidt & Bender 5-25x56 or 12-50x56

Most of the S&B line should have threaded objective lens retainers. But the 8X56 is so old (and should have been discountinued years ago) that there is no telling if yours will take one, unless you look.
