Thursday, I will be mainly sat by the gate...

Yes, they tell you 9-5 delivery and then tip up at 8 and leave a card saying no one home!!!! The ones I hate are they say delivery 9am to 10pm and then don't turn up.
Hope your testing goes well, I am just dipping my toe into reloading 243 with non lead bullets.

With apologies to takbok.

I tried not to, truly I did - but I have gone on and loaded up the other 91. It is an OCD thing and I should have your sympathy and understanding.

Now then.

Amongst this batch I have created two monsters. The charge is 49gr of R15 and that makes for (almost) a compressed load.

On two of these rounds the bullet has seated 'off' and the tips of the bullets have started the expansion process.

Once I realised that this was happening, I loaded the brass using a long drop tube.

Herewith are images of the shockers. In the image of five rounds the rogue is in the middle, to try and give a comparison to the decent rounds.

Obviously then will never be used on 'live' targets but I am curious to see how they would perform on paper.

What's the worst that could happen...:-|

Well just to repeat the exercise.

Back into the man cave, used the long drop tube to better settle the powder, reseated the bullets and they are still ****ed not central.

Just curious as to why that may be.

Alliant gives 49gns of R15 for 150 gns bullet so in theory you should be ok although as I understand it copper bullets should be loaded down - at least initially - open to correction (as if…). Could you maybe just let us all know when and where you intend to blow yourself up shoot the little darlings?
Re the odd seating angles - astigmatism perhaps? Again it could just be the light but the rhs brass looks like the neck is off true?

Electric toothbrush applied to case pre seat
That is a method of settling powder (as well as preventing gingivitis).

However, the long drop tube, does the same thing. For reasons I cannot yet fathom, two out of 101 rounds seated abysmally.

These bullets (non-lead Nielsen Sonic 140gr) have a 'pin' in the nose of the bullet which is intended to drive back and split the bullet into three 'petals".

I can accept a 2% failure rate in the loading, but just would like to understand why I cannot seat these two bullets 'square'.🤔

They are the same two cases and they are now "marked" as not fit for purpose...
Pull both of them, full-length resize then start again. Mind you a 2% fail rate isn’t that bad especially with copper.
Pity really I was soooo looking forward to the 💥💥 seeing how you got on.
Those bullets are slightly reminiscent to what the hun used (allegedly) in WW1 after judicious use of a hacksaw! Be good to hear how they go.

Heelllooooo! Ahm, It all seems to have gone eerily and rather unusually quiet……..
Err, anything to report on the 140s, you know like an eye patch, missing digit(s), now having to type with your nose, etc…..?
Just joshing but really keen to know how that stout(ish) load went plz?
Mildly interested Concerned of NI.
