Tikka 223 chassis on a budget

I’m looking into getting a chassis for my tikka t3x 223 lite, I’m fairly new to cf so getting my head around the options, it’s a foxing set up and I deff want an Arca rail for direct to ball head Arca mounting on a tripod, I don’t do walking big distances only a few fields at most but don’t want anything really heavy either, most of my shooting is off the roof of the truck on a bipod, I think I’ve narrowed it down to the krg bravo due to my budget and needs but is there anything else I should be considering? The mdt field chassis also looked to fit the bill but doesn’t seem to be available here at the moment, anyone using the bravo? any Regrets? What magazine are you using etc, Thanks

I'm shortly going to be going the tikka super varmint / xrs chassis route most likely...maybe worth a look as you can add arca and job done 👍🏻

If you’re foxing you want to leave the tikka lite in a plastic stock and a set of quad sticks! You’ll still take them out to the same range or better , those tripods aren’t all they’re cracked up to be and you’ll soon get fed up carrying a call of duty esq rifle

Totally Understand what your saying there, I do have a set of quad sticks I’ll use on the rare occasions I go stalking but want the tripod for when i can’t get the truck in a spot but it’s within a few fields walk and I can go hands free with spotter if I’m hanging around for a few hours…just covering all eventualities

My current foxing rig is a .223 rem700 with varmint barrel, mdt ess folding chassis, atlas bipod, PM2, pard007s, solaris ir laser, with mod...hefty but not unworkable if walking and stalking
Just looked…nice chassis 😍 but over my budget unfortunately

The sit and wait ability of the tripods is their only benefit to my mind , heavier and less stable than quads in my opinion , I own a tripod myself bought for the same reasons as you and it very seldom does anything tbh

Blimey. I sometimes lug a .220 Swift Ruger MK11 heavy barrel with a laminate stock about and hate the blasted thing, I've given it the nickname "The Bitch" as it's so heavy to hump about. But it strikes foxes down at silly ranges.

Oryx Chassis I am pretty sure is cheaper than a KRG and you can buy a bespoke full length Arca rail for £80

Been looking and so far from what I’ve seen I’m sure they are not far off £100 more…I might just hang fire and just see what comes up on the 2nd hand market

I've just checked and you're right. I have had both but bought a few years ago and prices have gone up a lot from when I got them😱 I've seen the Oryx go secondhand on here for around the £350 price before so maybe worth waiting.

I noticed on some of the reviews that were only a few years old the prices stated were a fair way off what they are now so it does look like they’ve had a big hike recently…but same for everything else 😭

How about a fifth leg for the quad sticks? I’ve made one up with a Y on the top that seems to support it very well. Must admit I’ve not tried it in anger yet but can’t see why it won’t work.

A KRG Bravo is what you seek. (Tikka T-3, Carbon 6 barrel, KRG Bravo chassis + enclosed fore end + 5rd AICS nag, Vortex Razor Gen II). You don't need the special fore end; the plain Bravo chassis will work fine for what you describe.
