toyota hilux ?

.....it's funny how folk reckon what they bought is the best just like you never hear a bad butcher advertising bad meat?

its a personal opinion best... there is probably very little in them all. Everyone will think what they have is best or they'd not have come to the conclusion of buying it

This won't be popular, but, I'd buy a Defender.
Noisy, uncomfortable (To some), agriculteral (Goes over ploughed fields), slow but returns 35 mpg if kept to 60/65 on M way.
Mine has 9 (Handy when the 7 G kids were younger) seats, 7 of which fold down.
New in 2005, now done 158,000. Apart fom servicing and brake consumables, the only expence (Apart from fuel) as been some sort of wiring harness that runs through the top of the engine, and this had to be replaced due to oil ingress.
The engine was chipped (By main dealer) when new for economy. Transfer box gears changed for Disco (15% higher ratios) ones, cat pipe replaced with straight through one and engine cooling fan done away with.
This vehicle will outlast me.
Ken.

No it wont. you forgot to add rust protection. and 35 mpg is poor:stir:

where was the rust, underneath or in the bed under a load liner?
The rust was on the underside of the tub, an area you would think they would underseal on the production line on a £30k vehicle.
As for economy, I checked frequently fill to fill and it was 27-28mpg with mine.

we use toyota hilux at edinburgh airport as operational vehicles, 12 hours shifts we mostly drive for, thrs 15 of us that drive them, most of us if not all have got back problems with sitting in them, they are the most uncomfortable bloody things I have ever driven. we are due another vehicle change soon , hopefully go back to LR Disco's :thumb:

that does surprise me that so many people think they are so uncomfortable, the leather invincible seats are quite good, maybe a little more adjustment would be nice but I've never been that disappointed

Have to agree regards comfort, even my old rav4 was a delight on the 5.5 hrs drive to Scotland, which I intend to do once a month so comfortable.
When I go in the works new van I walk like Ghandi for the first 2 hours.

Peking sensor? Does it help to find to find ducks with pancakes and hoisin?

Seriously, what a great idea, professionally fitted or or factory, and how are they activated?

Not sure about pancakes or ducks, but it sure as hell works with kangeroos, wallabies, emus and cyclists. Ask GSP84 on page 1 of this thread - he has his Peking sensors on the rear and they didn't work in the rain. I didn't think driving everywhere backwards was a good idea so I put mine on the front!
