trade sales only section

Its a fair question, which Alex has responded to. I would add that it takes a lot of our time up to patrol and run the site, plus an ever increasing cost. If it were down to me all classified adds would require a £1 cost to place an add, not just Traders, the vast majority of whom are honorable and pay the £10 per month.
This would stop some people from using classifieds as a sale room place, and in my opinion taking the p.ss, and selling constantly without Trade membership.

As the site membership is well in excess of 30,000 and many others dropping in to look at the site its growing fast, and some seem to think its just a place to flog stuff and make a few quid. This may change in the future.
As you pointed out to one member 13 pairs of new chainsaw trousers all the same waist size is hardly a personal item.
Unless he pressed the "buy it now" button too many times.

I can see the benefits of trade adverts, but two traders added 11 threads between them in the space of an hour this morning in the optics section. I'm not sure that this adds to the usability of the classifieds sections.
I'd be perfectly happy to pay a pound or two for a private listing.

Edit: Just a thought, would separating new items from used items be a way to keep everybody happy?

I'm really not certain what the issue is. I don't care if it's a private, or a trade seller, only that they have what I'm looking for, at a fair price, and I've had some fantastic deals from both !

Perhaps a better option would be a "new", and "used" for sale page ?

one of my pet hates: a member asks for a used item,.ie once fired 223 cases and instantly you get traders pop up saying i have some here <new>!!!!! if the poster wanted new he could order from a shop not on a forum with members trying to help members. shops /trade members need their own section .

make all ad’s locked at the first post - all enquiries go via PM, stops trolling and stops the relentless ‘up’, bump and TTT, etc.

Traders can post up to 10 ads per month in package, further costs say £5/month per ad. This is an option to reduce the risk of the Sad becoming the next gumtree.

As for ads - just remove them from the what’s new and unread feed - only way people can see them is if they visit the relevant for sales section - this is probably the real solution, with a filter tab for selecting ‘trade ads’ or ‘private’

Keep things tidy

How about a 28 day expiration on all advertisements, that would thin out non paying intentional long termed adverts and back patter adverts and give the chance to refresh and generate movement through the sections
If you wanted a long term vert you could chuck in 50p for the pleasure per item, self marshalling and refresh of goods for sale by all for everyone to see and the seller can revamp the ad to liven it up

28 days is a long time for a sales pitch shelf life 👍

How about a fee for every letter in the ad + £ price + extra fee for selling a Blaser? :-|

;)
Need to get rid of them somewhere 🙈😂

Personally I think £1 per item for sale is not a bad idea in the slightest, would certainly cut the 💩 out and those with heap of gear to flog it would be cheaper to get trade membership.

Trouble is it only takes 28 minutes for the items on the Optics page to be four pages down.
