I hate to say it, but I no longer see the police as "keepers of public order and peace", but rather as enforcers of government will.
As a younger man I did regular ridealongs, and got into any number of scraps helping cops while bouncing.
Today - not a chance.
Edit to add. I applied for, and was accepted into Police College but fortunately my best man - who was a cop, talked me out of it. He could see where it was headed, and knew it wasn't good.
