Tying flies

Hello,
Does anyone on here tie flies? And would take on a commission?
Looking for something as a birthday gift for the BIL, using feathers from his own birds from his shoot.

Cheers

Pheasant Tail Nymph?

A Hare's Ear?

The above two can be tied with very little special materials. Indeed you can just use cut to length tying thread and strip the copper wire from a scrap length of electric cable off that toaster that's going in the skip next time one is handy.

No need for a bobbin spool and a cheap finger held vice works. Even a pair of artery forceps!

Finger Vice £6.99 on Temu

No need really for something more ambitious such as a Teal Blue and Silver or a Partridge and xxxx Spider" or a Mallard and Claret as for many stillwaters the traditional old school winged dries and often even winged wets don't really seem to be as effective as the "nymphs".

Thanks for the nod John.

Unfortunately I don't really tie for beyond my own use and the occasional gift for friends/charity.

If there's no one else on here, then I can highly recommend joining the SalmonFishingForum and putting a request in there. There are several professional tyers on it who I dare say would happily take your request - and have a shed load of photos on that forum to back up their tying credentials!

If you mention my name as who sent you (and also link yourself to being on here), it "may" help in as much as proving you're not some random person taking them on a ride - although I've not been on there really for a couple of years.

If you are looking for traditional wet flies, which I'd guess are well suited to feathers from a shoot, or salmon flies then it would be well worth getting in touch with John Maclean as he does excellent work. He is usually very busy and often has periods when he simply has no capacity to take orders but it is worth getting in touch with him, for some reason Facebook is how he prefers contact but if you are stuck get back to me and I might be able to get an email address or phone number:
