Off the back of this thread I have ordered and now received a ventile Kestrel smock from country innovations, great customer service and the smock is perfect, yet to test it in heavy rain but for fit and feel and quality it’s going to be a great stalking/walking/working jacket.

Just be aware stiffening of the fabric when exposed to rain is normal and is the science behind Ventile's water repelency.

My wife and I have had about 4-5 coats and several legging made by Duck Dri over the last 20 odd years and would recommend them to anyone. Perhaps more of a game/rough shooting range than stalking but waterproof and VERY reasonably priced. NONE of our coats/legging have ever leaked.
They have bought out a camo coat etc in the last few years built on their standard game shooting pattern which I will be buying this summer for the winter season fallow etc. You need to buy their 'helmet' (!) hood if you want a modern design as an extra, the hood that comes with the coats is not very special.
They used to line their coats with what looked and felt like a woven, wool, light blanket material and it was brilliant: warm but very breathable and one never got sweaty in it. They have now gone over to a lighter cotton poly lining which is not so good for the colder months.
