Unusual lung shape

I shot a roe doe yesterday with unusual lungs (I know, I should have taken a picture) they were healthy enough in texture and colour but they had extra small lungs. They were like a liver can be with smaller sections these had two main lungs with other small ones. Anyone seen this before?

Mammalian lungs are lobed - ie. subdivided into several ‘mini lungs’. Sometimes this is obvious, depending on how you lay them out.

If I remember right, the right lung has 3 and the left lung 2 lobes (at least in humans).

Thanks Mungo. I’d never seen them separate like that only the livers. They were much smaller sections about walnut sized but flatter.

I once shot a roe with 3 kidneys, I panicked a bit, thought it was some growth? Fortunately one of my syndicate is a retired anaesthetist, and whilst rare it's not unheard of in humans so deer must be the same?

I’d heard of having one kidney but never three. I’ve had one removed so could have done with a spare! 😆
