A golf ball initial stamping device. From a charity shop. For a friend who plays golf.
He said that nobody used them. It was a gift for a golfer that only a non-golfer would buy. That's why the charity shops all had them. All the golfers he knew all used a felt marker pen. As stamping initials in the ball weakened the casing and anyway stopped the ball flying true when hit.

that’s brilliant; I’ve never thought of that. I use the puffer every outing and find it invaluable. An old Army NBC puffer bottle used for fullers earth decontamination. I buy bags of fullers earth for it off amazon, it never occurred to me to use the ash.
i too own a butt-out, never used. A friend sent it to me as a joke when I started stalking. It reminds me of the Roman torture thing, a pineapple. i didn’t realise they were so widely owned.
