Using a mod on 2 rifles

One moderator of a suitable hole diameter can be used on whatever and however many suitable rifles you have.

The only caveat is one of performance. A .45 cal moderator will not be as efficient with a .223 as a 6 mil would be. But it doesn’t mean you can’t.

The performance will be negligible, so minute it will be not worth worrying about

If you dont get a slot for the 270 you cant use a mod on it
I’ve applied for a mod slot for the .270, but was just wondering if I’d have to double-register the current .30 mod for use with it.
General consensus says not to and just ring the police, so I shall do.

Why ring the rozzers?

You cant shoot 2 rifles at the same time unless your rambo, so just get on with it and dont worry about it !

I obviously don’t want to have the same mod logged twice
You just need your FLO to add a condition to your certificate stating that the moderator can be used on both rifles. Easy peasy..

I’ve currently got a .308 with a Wildcat Evolution moderator. I’m in the process of acquiring a .270, and was considering using the same mod but buying an additional .270 baffle for it.

Is it a possible to do this, as I obviously don’t want to have the same mod logged twice on my certificate but for different calibres?

Cheers.
I would use the 30 cal mod as it is. I have never found it makes much difference .

Are you saying that currently the moderator you hold on certificate is conditioned for use on only one specific rifle?

If so, that’s the condition that needs to be removed, not having more conditions added.

I have never had a moderator conditioned to 1 rifle!

That just makes life bloody complicated, just get both rifles threaded the same and use the 1 mod and get on with it!

I have used a 30cal mod on a 270 for as long as i have had one and before that the 30cal mod was on the 6.5x55

Firearms depts like to make it easy for the clerk filling in the details. It has to be on a drop down menu-free text is a dangerous concept.

Ask for another ‘Centrefire moderator’.

It will then be listed as such on ticket, not calibre specific.

So, I apply for a rifle only(no mod), can I then buy a mod for it without one on my ticket?
Or do I need to have a mod on my ticket?
If I have that rifle( with no mod on my ticket) on me with a mod fitted and I’m stopped, am I not in possession of an unlicensed mod?
Am I not using that rifle otherwise than in accordance with the conditions on my ticket?

You need to apply for a moderator if you wish to possess a moderator to use on your rifle/rifles, simple as that.
You cannot legally possess a moderator for use on firearms without having it on your FAC (other than a fixed one that is an integral part of the rifle).

If you want to have two rifles and one moderator put it down as i.e – 1×270 rifle, 1×308 rifle, 1×30 Cal moderator, to shoot Any lawful quarry, On land where you have lawful authority to shoot, Or words to that effect.

It is really as simple as that it is not complicated!

In very basic terms that above is what my FAC says and has said for the last decade
