Vacuum food sealer recommendations

I use a Food Saver V3840. Really good. I've vac packed dozens of roe, loads of trout, home made boil in the bag meals. It does wet, dry, bottles and boxes. You can buy pre sized bags or better, make you own length from a roll so you can pack 12lb trout, roe or fallow haunches. Good buy at circa £130.

I have a Food Saver V3840 too. It's excellent. Happy to recommend.

I use roll bags, not the pre-sized, and I buy them from Amazon.

THere are a couple of old threads on here with recommendations too.

I only use the rolls for longer things I'm sealing. Just extra faff to cut to length and then seal one end before packing. I bought a bunch of pre-sized bags off ebay and much quicker - pretty much halves your vac-packing time!

I'm looking to buy a vacuum food sealer for venison and would appreciate any recommendations please.

hi, I'd strongly recommend the unit that Lakeland sell , I think it's marketed as "Foodsaver" it comes with about £30 worth of vac PAC bags and the whole thing costs about £80. bit of a bargain really. What's even better is that it also has a lifetime warranty, any problems or if your not happy with it you can take it back for a full refund or a new one. My one started playing up a bit after a couple of years and so I took it back to see if they could repair it, just a few months ago. They took the old one back ( minus any bags as I'd already used them up long ago) and they gave me a whole new unit including a load of vac pack bags ! I offered to pay for the bags and they refused any payment for them. What's great too is that I didn't have to send it off etc, I just took it into my local Lakeland shop.

kindest Regards, Olaf

La.Va is excellent - their V series ranges from £199 to £1,100, depending on the capacity / speed / size you require. I use the La.Va V300 and butcher and pack some 35-50 Roe and Muntjac carcasses and a few pigs p.a. using their 160 Micron range of bags - absolutely excellent products.
I have seen others struggle with a type of bag where you have to insert a little strip to create an air channel when pulling the vacuum - not easy and prone to failures.
However there have been many positive reports about a vac-packer for around £30 from Aldi / Lidl (?) , maybe worth a look.

Takaje from Weshenfelder. Never had a problem with it. I use it for everything. Well built professional quality. They operate a very good after sales service for their mincers as well. They sell the embossed bags as well.

Aldi vac packer was a bit like their coffee grinder. One day wonder.

Bushwear trespade and vacuum bags bought about 7 years ago. It's Bagged c 60 plus deer jointed and c 150 pheasants duck etc Never failed yet. My model I think supersed by Tajeke? I think cost about £150 at time. Good brand and kit IMHO. Bags take indelible ink felt pen well to mark up

Freshpak pro and se their rolls of vac bag material too.....it's also sous vide compatible etc .....you could take some left over stew etc seal and throw in roe sack then heat in a camp pot of water when out and eat out the bag with a spoon etc

The machine also has a fluid catching chamber so will catch fluids before they get caught in the pump

I bought one of the Lidl versions this year after reading posts on here and being nagged by my son (a Head Chef). I have to say that he was a little circumspect when he saw it, comparing it to his (unfair!), but was very impressed when he tried it out. In his opinion it was just as capable as his own, only not as versatile with all the bells and whistles.
I have used it to pack and freeze one Roe as well as countless other applications in the kitchen. So far, no problems with seals either frozen or chilled. Also no failures when used as "boil in the bag" applications.

How's the sealing? I mean if fluid get sucked to seal area the seal is ruined? If sealing temp/duration is so high it evaporates the fluid then sealing unit is not long lived?

We also have the Foodsaver sold by Lakeland. We've been using it for three years so far. It's dealt with about 50 roe, a few reds, countless pheasants and other birds. We use the roll sometimes, but mostly Trespade embossed bags from Tim Wesch. It's improved the quality of our frozen food immensely, is great for a quick marinade and all sorts of other things. Great piece of kit.

I believe the idea is NOT to get fluid into the seal area or towards the pump but should you do then the chamber is there to catch said fluid before it gets sucked into the machine innards.
The seal gives 2 level / option of seal mid or strong and I've never had any bother with either
Machine is hands free and I rate it and their vac rolls.... not tried any others to compare tho
