Variation Times ?

Suffolk turned my recent one for one variation around in a little over a week. Applied online, dropped of the FAC the Wednesday before Easter had it back the following Friday which considering the 4 day weekend was outstanding.

Beds Herts and Cambs..

I put in for a second .223 for target shooting and submitted my variation on-line:

Applied on-line on 17th December.
Video interview for same calibre +1 rifle on 27th December.
FAC with grant / variation arrived through my door on 11th January.

I am delighted to say the least..
In addition to the above, I put in for two .30 calibre target rifles on 2nd April. I had a phone call and video interview on the 17th April.. All approved, now just awaiting the envelope on the doorstep.. in reality I was going to wait for my renewal in December, but the immediate availability of a Barrett MRAD changed that..

Police Scotland 3 weeks since submitting and no word, they have been fantastic over the last couple of years, so I wonder if the stresses on staffing caused by the controversial April 1st Hate crime law is impacting the department?

Currently 4 weeks in, awaiting variation, had 1 call from FAO to say they had backlog & would get to it as soon as they could, call was 3 weeks ago, heard nothing since - Fife.

Lincolnshire are still on top of their game, 2 additional calibres and a grant of an explosives/black powder licence. It was all waiting for me when I returned from a trip to Europe so less than 2 weeks. More than happy.

West mercia applied 1/1 from 223 to 22lr semi on mid January and still waiting 😮‍💨
Complain - their website says to allow 8 weeks.

It may not get done any faster, but it's completely fair to ask why they're quoting a time at all if it's not realistic. The West Mercia PCC has made a big deal about investment in the licencing dept. and yet their performance is worsening.

I'll get an email going later today to them
