Hi guys just wondering how long people are waiting for variations to get sorted I put mine in the post on the 31st and not heard anything yet from my firearms department I put that I need the rifle for my new job position and to manage fallow on a farm that are destroying the farmers winter crops
I’m in Cambridgeshire so was wondering what time scale everyone is getting form there firearms department

Just email and ask them what their current processing time for a variation is. It's a reasonable enough question. If you are nice enough and are in a screaming hurry for a good reason they may be able/feel inclined to help.

If they can't then at least you know where you are at.

8 weeks + and still waiting to hear back from Hants FLD for a variation to condition my certificate for vermin control on a new permission!

Ring and ask, as long as you are polite and don't start making demands; you will at least get a rough idea how long the wait is likely to be.
Im waiting on a variation, its been in since start of last week. I was told I will have it by month end.

My license has run out, been granted a 8 week extension due to me getting it in more than 8 weeks before it expires!!
Good old Notts for you

Mine went in on 7th July, to Devon and Cornwall, now day 70 and heard nothing.

I rang and asked two weeks ago and it was still in the 'box' and not on the computer for process yet.

My experience with Cambridgeshire is they are really good, and very helpful just email them and ask. When I’ve emailed I have had a response within two days.

just done a variation , South Yorkshire is 4 weeks . used to be 5 days but they are only allowed one person in the office due to Covid

I had good service from Notts, got my new tickets a good six weeks before the old ones expired in July this year. I put a variation in last year, took about a week so can’t complain.

I needed a new certificate as my other one got damaged one night when our that took 3 days so I’m staying hopeful

That's just a print-off job, so that's all it should take. :)

It's not really a localised Cambs service any more, as it's a tri-force licensing department covering Beds, Cambs, and Herts. The turn-round now depends on the workload for the area as a whole, and Renewals in BCH are taking priority.
If I've got this right, your variation is for an additional rifle with a new use (deer control?). It'll probably need an assessment and a visit. It's not a 1-for-1 replacement or a 1-on/1-off situation, so not routine. What's happening in other force areas isn't really relevant, even if the circumstances are exactly the same. . . latest position in BCH:-

FEO advised, I post it back for hopefully a quick turn around, into the third week now. I was unable to buy 3006 ammo at Bisley as my certificate read 30 and not 30.06 in the ammo section. I am with Surrey and West Sussex.

BC.

Took them 3 weeks for a one for one, they lost my first lot of renewal forms and the postal order but managed to find my medical notes, you must be one of the lucky ones
