Variation timescale

I don’t have a cheque book anymore,do you ? ,dose anyone?

To be fair I do, but when I asked my bank for a cheque book cover they said they no longer make them. :-|

I suppose it is a sign of the times. Cleaning out the truck a couple of months ago and came across a couple of quid in coins. I was fascinated.

Could not remember the last time I had seen "real" money.

Took them 3 weeks for a one for one, they lost my first lot of renewal forms and the postal order but managed to find my medical notes, you must be one of the lucky ones
I must admit, it’s the best service I’ve had since they started checking cabinets, thought they’d turned things round a bit. Maybe not then?😕

Renewals take priority over aviation at the moment. You can thank covid-19 for that. Just send a polite email asking for an update and approximate time scale.

Try living in Northern Ireland. My last variation took 8 months to come back. No issues or queries with it either. Was told to expect 6 months as the norm for cf and 4 months for sg. It is crippling the gun shops here as the backwards way they go about it is: we have to purchase first with deposit or in full, RFD holds firearm in storage, send application for variation, wait for process decision via FEO and senior management, issue or refusal given, then either pick up or tell the RFD you can't have it and fight for your deposit/full money back. That's with an online system that was supposed to better the process. Apparently current waits are due to Covid- probably the best excuse anyone has for not doing their job properly?

I wonder how often they play 'snakes and ladders' with the pile of applications?
They must get tempted, when someone becomes a nuisance!

West Mercia contacted me within 8 days to say my variation was ready but I hadn't sent my hardcopy in which had unused authorities so this delayed things a little but that was my fault.

9 weeks with Gwent police though they did return my old cert when they realised it was taking longer than expected so as I could keep the ammo safe topped up. Can't complain really considering the current situation.

Hi guys just wondering how long people are waiting for variations to get sorted I put mine in the post on the 31st and not heard anything yet from my firearms department I put that I need the rifle for my new job position and to manage fallow on a farm that are destroying the farmers winter crops
I’m in Cambridgeshire so was wondering what time scale everyone is getting form there firearms department
Cambridge are in with Beds and Herts, I am Beds and have found them one of the better divisions to deal with and speedy on variations and renewals

I sent a variation into the Met Police at the start of July. Checked with them a couple of weeks ago. They said it was posted to me at the end of July. Never turned up so they reprinted it and posted it recorded delivery which arrived. So all in about 3 months. And someone out there has a copy of my FAC

Cambs, Beds and Herts are very good. I’ve submitted two variations in the past 24 months and both were processed efficiently within 2 weeks.

Iv just had mine back from the longest wait Iv ever had, of 10 days.

Hats off to GMP normally back within the week.
