Vinyl Friday

The song is reputedly about the now famous sculptor Emily Young, who was a little girl when the song was written (her parents were friends with Pink Floyd).

Oh if only I still had them. It needs people like your good self to remind me of bands Ive seen, records I've owned etc.
Never part with vinyl, its a diary of your life. Still buying old records now after 2 girlfriends cleared off with record collections. Never too late to start again, get a good record player, its more rewarding then a bad girlfriend.
Heres a good one for you, Nic Jones popularised the hammer technique of guitar playing that John Martyn excelled at. His singing & timing is fantastic. Thanks once again to K for a marvellous thread, music & shooting the icing on the cake.

Nic was a God gifted special guitar player and one that I have played on stage with, got drunk with and best leave it there.
I was fortunate to spend time with him, Tony Capstic, Martin Carthy, Vin Garbutt, Wizz J and a good few others, an explosion put pay to my guitar playing, but thats another story, sadly a car accident put paid to Nic,s fine guitar work.

What a lovely story, thank you so much for sharing. & sad to hear of your accident. Wizz is still going, he recently played at Cromer Pier, but I was unable to attend. Hope I get another chance. We did manage to get Michael Chapman out here to the farm for a very special gig, it turned out to be his last one unfortunately. All the very best Levisp, & keep em coming.

Heres another small world coincidence, the melodeon player on this track just happens to live a few miles away, Tony Hall, used to drink a lot in my local. Know his daughter well too! Cheers.

So every once in a while I here something that presses the right buttons, this is one such artist, far more modern, but ;well just listen.

So even more recent.
Two good friends, brother from across the pond visited myself in 2021. Amongst the various presents brought over were some CDs and I avidly listened to them all.
However one track hit me like a hammer, I pulled over, listened to it a couple of times and carried on my way.
You either get it or you don't, but this track struck a nerve so deep every hair on my body was raised.

So the music industry has changed beyond recognition to the like of myself.
There was a time when anyone over the age of 21 and running a music venue would receive price lists like this in the post, a few eye openers in this one.pricelist.webp
