Virtus 7mm bullet's

No service.
Seemed a nice bloke.
So ordered bullets, then he can’t invoice, he was then going to send them to somebody else with an account who would invoice me and it’s not happened. Two weeks of being messed about in total.
Shame I know, especially as they sound a good product.

I can appreciate your point. However my own experience is more positive; I recently ordered some Virtus 6.5 & 7mm bullets, the 6.5’s arrived couple of days later with a note saying the 7mm’s would follow the next week. The 7mm’s were delivered yesterday, a few days later than expected but none the less they arrived.

On the basis of initial testing on targets I’ll be ordering more 6.5’s at the very least.

The bullet shape is interesting & reminds me of those adopted on some large(ish) calibre ELR designs.
Working from the rear, there’s a boat tail, then a full calibre (i.e. groove diameter) parallel section, then a tapered waisted in section (to reduce bore contact), which then expands back out at the junction with the ogive - the diameter here is only slightly larger than bore diameter - in effect an bore-riding bourrelet has been formed. It still gives support for the front of the bullet in the chamber / leade but the reduced diameter of the bourrelet lowers the initial engraving resistance & pressure.

Given up on “Virtus” going to try “Yew Tree”.

Steve,

We at Virtus apologise for your bad experience ordering the new 7mm projectiles. I am a competitive shooter and hunter myself and understand 100% your frustrations with the situation. We are working to get all absent products on the website by the 28th of August. This is the first time the website designer will be available. I understand if you do not want to support Virtus anymore and have been monitoring all the comments from you and other people on SD. We choose to never get involved in any debates on the net and let the people make up their own minds what product is right for them. We will continue to focus on developing the best possible product and acknowledge that we might not always get it right. This will is a British product and we need all our British people to support us and give us feedback so we can improve. Yes, we will have some that will hate what we do, but we shall never give up to strive for perfection. I hope that you might want to try Virtus again in the future.

Kind regards,
Vern.

That’s nice, but hasn’t really addressed white van man’s issue with your company.
Regards, Ken.

My experience with Vern has been similar to the above few mentions his bullets are very good but he has a few issues currently please ring him and I’m sure he will be more than happy to sort any orders out he did for me

Not virtus related but definitely related to Rich at yew tree. Ive recently had issues developing a load for my PRC and Rich has done as much as he can to assist with fault finding from powders and charge weights, seating depth and helping come up with solutions to help.

Ive used the 130g TLR in my 7 rem mag previously and as with the other loads I've had from yew tree, they have shot and killed well after really easy load development.

Sir, if you are worried about carcass damage, the Osprey design is the projectile that we created to address this issue.
Appreciated but just looked at your website 3000fps is recommended muzzle velocity, having shot copper for many many years, I’ve never driven a copper bullet that fast!

That kind of speed screams big damage do me, I would appreciate some carcass pictures of skin on and off, because I’m used to a minimal and I mean minimal damage I.e anymore than a £2 on the exit inc bruising that’s too much for my comfort

We would advise not to take any deer past 250m with the Virtus Osprey projectiles. This projectile causes the least amount of terminal performance. However, some customers have taken deer at much further ranges using the Osprey design. We do not have any contol over this. We can only advise against it.

The examples below was from the 30Cal 125GR Osprey projectiles. It is very popular amongst our customers.

The carcass damage in Verns photos above is exactly what I’ve seen shooting the 125 .308’s at 2950fps. Unfortunately no photos to share. A very effective bullet.

Ordered some Yew tree of Richard on friday he sent them yesterday and they have just turned up. Now that is service and TBH you cant knock the Royal Mail either.

I thank you for the pictures but unfortunately that’s too much damage for me to stomach, plus I like to use a copper bullet at the same weight of calibre I.e - 150gn with 308win

I’m now personally loading barnes TTSX 150gn in 7mm (7x57) with and 18” barrel which is doing just under 2600fps and I am very confident bullet damage will be minimal.
