Vodafone are anti's!

Alright, issue resolved. Had to do the live chat on their website. Could this be an option for you @bogtrotter ?

I still don't understand why companies decide to control their customers through such 'safety features'. They are not common sense ideas like chain brakes on saws but executives meddling with consumers.

We now have cars that are speed restricted/regulated.. next thing will be some 'genius' that comes up with the idea of putting a 'are you really really sure you want to fire?' button on the rifle.

Oh wait... Blaser! :stir:

I've found Vodafone fine with me, any problem I've had it's been sorted, I dont ever phone them up Ive always used the online chat in the app if I've had a problem, plus I do hate sitting listening to waiting music 😂

What’s to stop a child from using their phone to access this site, buy one of the various knives for sale, pay by PayPal or BACS, then have it delivered direct to their home before going out and stabbing someone? I agree there are myriad ways to illegally source a weapon, this is only one of them, but it’s a way nonetheless. It’s not “control”, it’s a simple safety feature that’s activated until you tell them to deactivate it. It’s not anti anything, it’s not them trying to control our lives, it’s just a safety feature.

I got into my car the other day and it automatically put the lights on when I started it. How dare Volvo do that. They’re anti freedom. How do they get to choose whether I put my lights on? Or maybe it’s just a safety feature......?

Soon as i moved to Virgin from EE all blocked ,quick call to a human being in the uk all sorted .And during lockdown an extra 10 g of data free to help facetime family free .
👍👍to Virgin and something banable to Vodafraud

Update to the situation... nothing resolved.

Had a text confirmation asking me to restart the phone... websites still blocked. Said may take 24 hours so I will wait but not much longer!

Hmm, not sure... maybe a responsible parent who has looked after their child and instilled proper values through good parenting?

Applying the 'what if?' question indefinitely will lead you nowhere. Making choices for people, especially when it comes to safety, often makes them behave less responsibly.

That'll be why knife crime isnt an issue at all in this country. Our youth all appear to be upstanding citizens with an excellent moral compass...

All of this boils down to the fact that if you turn off 'SecureNet', a service which costs £1 per month (but a 3 month 'free trial' period is given) this open a new set of problems as more sites are automatically blocked, sites which are otherwise accessible under SecureNet.

Whoever designed this system evidently failed to realise that the role of a service provider is explicitly that, to provide, not take away.

Whatever you do, don't go Vodafone.

Finally, finally resolved through the live chat.

Only took 3 different operators, Shashank had to go through the complex operation of turning the filter off, back on then off again on his end.

They could save a lot of customer and operator time (hence money) by removing this 'feature' completely.
