Ok I use double door cole fridges and works well... but getting chance of more reds now ...I can't hang a red whole in one u less I skin then quarter it straight away

I've seen some of these modular 8x6ft or 8x8ft cold rooms you can build in panels

I'm not " handed enough " to build a shed then panel it out in insulation etc

How do these style lock together?

Best places to look for decent 2ndhand one ?

Cheers
Paul

The walk in chillers that disassemble into separate panels are a doddle to take apart and put together again, provided that the cams aren't corroded. You just need the correct sized long shaft Allen key.
(Even if the fixings are corroded on a 2nd hand one, and therefore get broken during disassembly, you can reassemble the whole thing anyway and put a couple of ratchet straps around it).

Is there a concern with regards to regassing if its an older one ... I mean is the refrigeration gas still available ... I know older cars aren't getting done in some cases as newer different gas used.... dont know if thats applicable

I've never had a problem getting regassing done. No idea how old my refrigeration units are, but they're certainly not new!

If you’re going down the walk-in chiller route get a monoblock chiller unit worth its weight in gold!

Don’t even fat about with the re-gassing of an old chilli unit that they’re on its own is a can of worms you do not want to open if it was not the de gassed properly

If you do get a secondhand chiller (I got one earlier this year off e bay) give it a really good clean and silicone the panels when you put it back together. This will ensure a nice air tight seal and help prevent heat loss. Also mark the panels before you take the old unit down so you know how to put them back together again. As long as you have a level base to put the chiller on they are a doddle to put back together but you need 2 people to take them down and put them up (well it makes it a lot easier anyway) :)

Plug it in, Set the temp and away you go!

On single phase so a 13 amp plug can’t get simpler than that, but I will say you want to order one half again as big as you think you need because then it won’t struggle to cool, I’ve seen people who have ordered the minimum requirement and literally their mono block has struggled my honest advice half again as big as you think you need and it will run sweet as a nut👌

Mine has had a hard life now for over five years and it’s not missed a beat and you have to understand mine is on non-stop from the red rut to the end of march at the end of the CWD

On a second note as for rails build yourself a climbing frame with scaffold bars, cheap and I guarantee for as long as you have a hole in your backside you will not bend it!
