Weather warning why?

Normal here, anyone getting storm and tempest?

I wish the met office would stop issuing these warnings when nothing happens it must cost industry squillions.

I think the issue comes from when they didnt issue a weather warning (Michael Fish) and most of the trees in Kent got blown over...so now they issue a warning when there is a strong breeze...just in case :)

a) The Warble Gloaming religion states that climate change will bring more extreme weather conditions, including storms.

b) Therefore, describe every whiff of wind and drip of rain as a "storm."

c) So: Today there are more "storms." Job done.

Trebles and knighthoods all round!

Its a warning - nothing more, nothing less. If it doesn't concern you ignore it. Darwin will take care of the rest.

It was worse here a fortnight ago (barely mentioned on the forecast) than it has been today, despite their warnings of tempest, mayhem, torrential downpours and flying rhino's.*

Anyone ever heard about the little boy who cried "Wolf !" ?

* I might have made up the bit about rhino's

The Met Office recently deleted large amounts of data from weather stations including Lowestoft, Nairn and Paisley, where they had continued publishing data despite those stations being closed as much as 10 years ago. The Met Office said the data was based on “well-correlated neighbouring stations”, even though there were no stations within a 40-mile radius.

Unfortunately they were caught out, although they did their best to keep this hidden.

Strangely the BBC doesn't publish this type of news, preferring instead to treat the Met Office as infallible.
I don't believe fabrication of data is done on a widescale basis within the Met Office, but it comes up often enough that one can't help but treat any of their announcements with a healthy degree of scepticism.

The BBC are currently using Metogroup/DTN for their forecasting but will soon be back with the Met Office. The BBC forecast for the East Midlands today was about right but included the Met Office warnings which made it worthless.

I use more than one source if it looks dodgy and the weather could affect what I'm doing.

See Tom Nelson Podcast no 272; they’re old hands at fake weather, to presumably go with BBC’s fake news.

It's all part of Project Fear.Sensationalism, control, looking after the plebs.
Summer weather maps 15 yr ago was the Sun with the temperature in.Now the map of the UK is all different colours of red...ooohh look how hot it is in the Summer, keep in the shade, stop indoors & drink plenty of fluids.God forbid you want some Vitamin D on your anemic skin.
Humans have survived now in various continents with extremes of weather for 1000's of years with a bit of common sense which sadly isn't that common now.
