Weed killer advice

As an alternative to glyphosate try this stuff if you can get it:-http://www.amenity.co.uk/total-residual-weed-killers/pistol-herbicide-1l.html. atb Tim

If you don,t mind the odd streak a strong 80% brine mix works and is residual unlike glyphosate, if using roundup pro active you need 300ml in 15 litres, is say bring back the old 245D nettles went black in hours apart from blue baby's your bowels falling out it was harmless :D

We brought 5 litres from the hardware store in town for treating the docks etc and Ragwort and mix it for use in a pump sprayer. As it's not for commercial use it seems this is allowed. Damned expensive though but we have managed to kill off one bed of Docks which covered about 1/4 acre in one place. Now it's on to the next bit.
If you have still got a fair bit to do you may find it cheaper to get hold of a grassland spray such as Pastor if you can. Glyphosate needs a very high application rate for broad leaved weeds compared to grass weeds. You wouldn't have to worry about overspray killing the grass then either.

Sauer,
If the run off of rainwater from your drive isn't going to cause damage elsewhere, why not use salt?. You can get salt for de-icing your paths etc a lot cheaper than Glyphosate products and nothing will grow for a long time in soil that has been sown with salt.

As i said SALT, it works on cemetery gravel drives. As i have done it for years now ..........

Diesel. Works a treat. ;)

You're getting a bit late in the year for glyphosate, I'd probably pull them once more then go for kerb or some other residual herbicide.
I treat our drive with kerb granuals every winter and a couple of applications of glyphosate through the summer. I'm fairly sure that you should be signing the poisons register to buy these chemicals though, which would mean having tickets, so you might need to approach a farmer/forestry contractor.

Diesels easier.

or you could always get 3-4 cube of ready mix and save all the trouble of weeds and racking gravel!
