What did you do in the rain over the weekend!!

Aren't we all this should be a very good Fair and i am sure many good friendships will be made there. Very much looking forward to meeting Andy and Ian and of coarse your self Malc. PS i will be the chap with the crash helmet on.

Why are you travelling up by moped Davie? Cant understand why you would make such a remark! but I am sure others may know the reason why!

Now Now malc put your claws in  PS its down the way for me , and i thought the site was not the place to air my thoughts man to man is the way to sort things dont you agree.

Davie I have no idea what you are alluding too, and if I am at the fair I look forward to meeting you. Many will be meeting for the first time and I am sure friendships will be formed. You will see I have edited your remarks from other posts as I felt they were slightly disrespectful.

well i had a stag do to york races yesterday and helped a fellow stalker move house today(with a stinking hangover)

Buck-14Jul12_2.jpg

There was a window of opportunity on Saturday morning - between 04:30 and 07:30 - when the rain ceased and the sun shone. I spent 30 minutes of that time waiting with my back to a tree and the rifle up on the sticks, watching over a field of set aside where the grass was high. This buck appeared on the far side of the field and made his way towards me. I'd lose him occasionally as he disappeared into the undulations of the ground and was obscured by grass. Finally he presented a suitable neck shot. He's not that big, but the extra tine at the base of his left antler is unusual, so likely I will boil the head out rather than just cutting off the antlers.

Carrying him out I realised just how warm it was, but by the time I got him back to the larder the rain had returned.

Nice one mate.

I had 2 manic boys as Helen was away on her girlie weekend.

AGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

See you at the end of the month mate ;)

Hopefully catch up with one or two 'over the border'. videoed a doe out on the grass field the other evening. Top left corner, still bloody windy

To the fishermen on here and those that know the Brora, water to dream of at this time of year. My mate fishing the head of the Madman pool, and the other of The Pot. Only fishermen after salmon could want the weather we have had...

Sadly no photos of the fish, always left the camera in the car at the relevant times!!!

Jon

I saw the videos - what was the doe doing out in that wet and windy weather??

I'm out again this Friday to start scouting around to see where we'll go when you're down in a couple of weeks time. I'll be taking the rifle with me on Friday though, just in case something decides to make a showing ;)

That doe was down the bottom field we spied from the road. I was bloody wet under the fir trees. While I was videoing her one walk 30m behind me:doh:.

To be fair that video was taken about 3-4wks ago, the second one was last week. I waited where we thought it might be a good place on the left hedge row. Chris had 2 kids virtually under the seat on the first coppice piece.

Good luck with the reccy.

See you in 10days or so.

Went out looking for roe bucks, saw only does and Fallow, stayed dry for a couple of hours though
Well, no extra water fell from the sky, it wasn't so much stalking as wading in places.
Better than sitting at home though.

spent the weekend up to me neck in mud and beer at the rockandbikefest in notts. Had to bale water away from my tent it was that bad

was ill, sleep deprived, and indoors with two crazed dogs that've not been allowed outdoors for a week due to a kennel cough that dodged their vaccines.

CANNOT wait until
A. Thursday (payday :-)
B. Friday (weekend begins)
C. Saturday (I shoot a gold medal buck at over 1000yds between the eyes in a 30mph cross wind)
D. Diamonds and Cotton Candy rain from the sky.

...I need sleep...

Spent most of Saturday getting soaked while repairing and re-siting high seats. Spent most of Sunday in pub talking stalking.
