"What does your daddy do..."

I spent nearly 30yrs travelling the world laying and burying fibre optic cables at sea before getting into the Oil and Gas Industry and then retiring early.
Great job and even though it cost me my first marriage a long time ago because I spent too long away I wouldn't change a single a day of it.
Ive visited some great countries all around the world and met some great friends and still keep in touch with some of them to this day.

Quite an eclectic mix of jobs. Various farm jobs as a youngster. Got in with a civil engineering company at 18 that kept going back to during any holidays from school. studied jewellery and silversmithing at uni, got a job locally at a jewellery manufacturer. 18 months there, just not for me. Then self employed joiner and home improvements for 10 or more years. Met an old school mate who runs a building firm and setup up a workshop to run along side. been joinery workshop manager for the last 9 years. Making windows, doors, gates and all manner of internal fitted joinery.

I have been a very lucky man in my working life.

I left school at 15 in 1954. No education qualifications at all. Joined the army two months later as a boy soldier. Stayed for 12 years by which time I had been well-educated and become a Sergeant pilot in the Army Air Corps.
Demobbed in 1966.
Civilian flying instructor at three aero clubs.
Corporate pilot for two construction companies then Laura Ashley, the fashion designer.
Freelance survey pilot in Africa, South America and other places.
Airline pilot flying very large turboprop freight aircraft on worldwide, non-scheduled, routes.
Full-time farmer for five years, producing rabbits for the meat industrie.
Airline pilot again, flying passengers on European routes.
Airline pilot instructor and then examiner with two British airlines.
Compulsorily retired at 65.
Also fitted in 30 years as a part-time keeper on a local estate and then ten years deer control, which I am still doing.
Now aged 87.

None of it was planned - It just happened.
Most importantly though whilst "Rabbit farming" did you teach your clients the art of pastry cooking to top the pies?

I work at the ministry of funny walks. Used to be entirely clinical but have more recently taken on more of the manufacturing management. Quite a varied cohort of patients, a lot of gait related work but can be anything from reducing a scrotal hernia (like tickling a trout) to a head support for MND patient. Recently been exploring some composite builds, made this for one of our polio patients

No, at first they all went to France and Belgium and latterly to Waitrose and Sainsburys. Different world back in the 80's.
