What is this?

The lumps of rock appear to be placed randomly in between each other in a row, but more uniformly placed in distance down along the track, until they appear to have tighter gaps further away from camera shot (unless that is an effect of the camera shot?)

Camera effect. It’s all like in the foreground

That’s my view also. It’s not pave as the bumpy bits are too big (1 foot long and about 6 inches wide and about 3 inches protruding from the concrete base) and to widely spaced

The location is Ceasars Camp above Farnham

I think it’s a WWII testing ground of some sort. Bit like a military version of Millbrook
From 1940 OS Map:

Caesers Camp (1).webp

This shows it to be a series of rifle ranges, some of which are still visible in the current OS map:

From Defence GIS:

I had hoped to find definitive evidence of that being a testing track but all I'm finding are old ranges.

The other thing they remind me of is raised sets to push against. Like stones set proud at lock gates. To enable the people pushing the lock gates open or closed to have something to push against if there is ice or snow.

So maybe this isn't for testing vehicles (or drivers) at all? But actually to assist training people dismounted pushing heavy wheeled objects. Such as guns?

Which would also explain the spacing as the men doing the manhandling would be spaced all along the object they were pushing so unlike the lock mere parallel sets would be impractical? So I am thinking Royal Marines artillerymen, or sailors, possibly manhandling big "Eff Off" dual purpose ship/field guns such as the 4.7" QF ? Be that late 19th or early 20th Centuries?

Like these fellows at Gallipoli with the 4.7" QF gun that was carried in side casements on dreadnoights but designed to also be dismounted onto a wheeled carriage? So these would have had no horses as they were ships guns. Just Royal Marines and sailors on ropes!

The sets by being fully across the track also stopping the item rolling back if being pushed uphill or, maybe "running away" if being pushed downhill?

Could it be a vestige of WWII anti-tank defences which records show ran near Farnham? [organic deposition over intervening 80 years now hiding bulk of pyramids?]

Don't think so. They are set in a concrete roadway which is at or only just below the surface

There are dragons teeth and pill boxes about a mile away from this feature. The teeth still quite proud as in your pic
