What made you smile today

My daughter is home from Uni and as i work downstairs in the study i can hear her play music. (My son, still at school and therefore living at home,. plays French Horn so i don't miss his playing (althogh hes taking his Grade 8 shortly so also reasonable player)

She plays violin and an Ocarina, and i forgot how nice it is to hear her practicing upstairs. She is not a professional musician she's grade 7 violin, and she is self taught on the Ocarina, but can play both instruments very nicely.

She's just been playing Gabriel's Oboe, theme tune to The Mission, one of my favourite pieces of music.

Smiling, and maybe a bit of dust in my eye!

.

My Cocker spaniel does it every day without fail..
Ps @GlennUK , you are a lucky blighter to have a daughter who is gifted musically. I'd love to be able to play an instrument, the piano would be my choice.

Don't I know it, both kids were relatively late starters compared with many of their peers, but both play very well.

they both had lessons from good teachers for their respective instruments, but she decided to purchase an ocarina and taught herself to play it. She now has a professional quality instrument and i cant work out how she went from strings to woodwind using youtube videos to learn!!!

Spaniel went swimming in the sea despite my best efforts to persuade him he might regret it. Fetched one ball then ran back up the beach literally with his tail between his legs 😂

My pleasure sir - a lovely job - I trust you christened your work with a fine malt or two?
Always fancied dabbling with a bit of leather (pause for SD schoolboy titters) - Sue in The Repair Shop is an inspiration…

I haven't done yet, finished the stitching and burnishing today, but haven't had time to seal it for waterproofing, but I'll do that tomorrow.

Give it a go mate, plenty of youtube tutorials. I know very little but everything i do I got off YouTube and then trial and error 😂

Just in from an early very cold outing and this really did make me smile.

Just kicking off the wellies and the sainted Lady FB handed me a large malt - naturally the smile just got wider.
A great fire, a comfortable armchair, a decent malt, an adorable new-to-us wee dog and a beautiful woman who spoils me.
Add to that my triple deuce and I am truly blessed.
Cheers lads!

One of my clients was accidentally locked into a police cell in a derelict station whilst we were on a building visit. An automatic locking cell door that had been accidentally left live by the force. The police had also lost the keys, spent hours looking in various stations, their on call locksmith failed to materialise. Eventually the police called the fire bridge to cut him out as his claustrophobia, the cold and my delight were getting the better of his spirit. As I felt in some way responsible (I suggested he entered for a picture) I stayed to keep him company and myself amused (pictures 1 & 2)… however it was his complete lack of any gratitude that tickled me (pictures 3 & 4).
