What pick up?

What is top of the range Hilux is it the 3.0 invincible? And why is auto better ?
At the moment they are all 2.4, but they are apparently bringing 2.8 in later this year.
Cracking windshields makes me think it can only be caused by weak (not stiff enough) chassis members and or body stiffness and I was a body engineer for 50 years and do know my stuff, so think twice about buying one, it is not something you can stiffen up yourself, a very expensive redesign/retool by Toyota would be the only fix for that.
I'm pretty sure they have fixed this issue now, there were a few early new models on HPOC (Hilux Pickup Owners Club) that had it happen. Not heard of any post 2018.

Mentioned above is also the BASC discount, being something that might sway me into a Hilux.
BASC i think offered 6% on an Amarok and 16% off list with a Hilux.
I got 5% + £500 bonus off from my VW dealer when i got the last one.

If they kept it VW i would order a new model next year when they come out, but i told the dealer if its a tweeked Ford i wont be buying another, and he said i was not the first person to say that.

The 2.4 Hilux put me off before, but the new 2.8 has at least a bit more poke.

Or would it be worth waiting for a Rivian R-1T. Now that looks interesting.

The new, when released, Ranger/Amorok, will be available as the first plug in Hybrid pick up with up to 60 miles on battery only.

I had a test drive in the new 2.8L Invincible X at Xmas. Simply Wow.
Only problem is, everyone wants one and delivery is looking early summer if you are specific . Deffo worth the wait.
Some good reviews on Youtube. Now that Jeremy Clarkson has a farm , I guess he`s on the waiting list also ;)

My Hilux has been brilliant, I'd have another every time.
Which one have you got though, I had the 2017 model and it was rubbish, I had the 2012 before that and it was brilliant, As I said it will be interesting to see what the new 2.8 model will be like.

Mine was an older model 2009 3.00. It's done 75000 virtually trouble-free miles and looks as if it's going on for a good while yet. I've heard that the later models weren't as good as the earlier ones.

Have a 2.8 Hilux on order , I’m told I should be able to have it sometime in March . BASC discount was 19% .
I had a 2012 Hilux 3L invincible with 125k miles with no problem, change to a Ford Ranger 3.2 Wildtrak in 2017 because of the Toyota 2.4 didn’t float my boat.
Ranger has given me no problems but Ford has decided that 2L is plenty enough so not for me.
Test drove a 2.8 Hilux and have to say seems to be a completely different animal than the 2.4.
Hope iv made the right decision.
