Notwithstanding that (with the greatest of respect) the poll is flawed.

I am saddened to see that approximately 14% of respondents, consider First Aid Training to be a waste of time.

Or am I misreading the results?

Perhaps those 14% live in Essex and don't have chance.

Having dealt with a heart attack ,stroke ,epileptic fit ,de gloving of two hands and fractured skull anyone that views it as a waste of time is various words that mean **** imho .
Watching panic as people don't even have the nouse to ring 999 when someone is on the floor in a bad way tells me it's a vital skill to have .
To save life and prevent further injury ,no your not a doctor but if you can c.p.r ,clear an airway ,stop or slow massive bleeds could just save a life .

Does this need refreshing every 3 years or so?
Of all the refreshers that you seem to need to do nowadays to tick the boxes, this would be the most important.
Personally think I would go to pieces in an emergency situation and no end of training would prepare me be of any use, maybe in a less serious situation.
(Done emergency first aid every 3 years for 20 yrs for work). Dread I ever get put into the situation I have to use it.

First Aid training will not make you infallible and you need to be aware of this, some situations cannot be saved, unfortunately been there, done that, but at least with a bit of knowledge you can try. I have been a First Aider at Work for 20 years and completed some military training prior so have some idea but always willing to attend more, no vote from me as you didn't list anywhere local. Any intention in Yorkshire?

Any course is worth doing as you will learn something, as they say, but this has to be top of the list in terms of "whats in it for me?" Just think your next casualty could be family and friends........ your choice, do the course and have a chance or panic in headless chicken mode and possibly add further issues to a deteriorating situation?

Lets not forget it's only 4 people!* Some are not cut out to help others, it's not in their make up
Those “others” may well be a much loved family member, I would hate to see someone who means the world to me, die in front of me when a simple technique could have saved their life.

Oh I quite agree, I have been an offshore medic for more than 20 years and am always happy to pitch in, others not so much.
