Which optic

Afraid I agree with caorach......I use a 6x42 S&B for lowland/woodland, and I have an 8x50 Pecar for the 25-06 barrel for hinds on the hill. Simple stuff, but it works.
I have a friend in Argyll who's a professional stalker. He's had the same 6x42 Kahles scope on the same Krico rifle for the last 40 years. The rifle is on its third barrel and there's a good size ding in the scope body, but it still puts deer in the larder with absolute precision.....and we're talking thousands of deer over the years!

Don't let the marketing gurus spend your money for you!

For 20 years I've done a broad mixture of hill reds, woodland roe and red and foxes all on the west coast of Scotland. There's only ever been a S&B 8x56 on my rifle in all that time. This year I've found that I'm shooting more rangey foxes and have taken to a larger mag scope with illuminated reticle. TBH the S&B is missed when out on the hill due to it being a lot lighter, but such is life and change is sometimes wanted but not necessarily needed.
My 8x56 is for sale in the classifieds her on SD.....
