Wierd Beer (or cider)

I still drink 'proper' beer.

I like bog standard Staropramen type lagers, Fullers cask, Timothy Taylor, Adnams, cask by local breweries but I also love the huge selection of craft.

If anything craft beer has opened cask up to non cask drinkers.

I never saw this myself, but working with a colleague in the early 90s, he told me of a draught ale in Hull or Grimsby that before serving had half a herring dropped into it!
In days of yore a concoction which included fish oil was used as a clearing agent.

@Dave31

Just had these delivered.

Dugges Coconut Cream

Country: Sweden

Barrel Aged Imperial Stout // 16.1% Abv // 500ml
Take a complex combo of all the dark malts you love, giving a chocolaty, sweet, fruity and slightly roasted aroma and taste. Then add to that a bonkers amount of toasted coconut. Finally age that in freshly emptied Martinique rhum agricole barrels.

A stout boiled for 12 hours to produce as thick, gloopy, and luxuriously sweet a beer as science will allow. Enriched with vanilla, cacao nibs, and tonka beans.

Country: England

Brand: Pastore

Wild Ale // 6.0% Abv // 750ml

A blend of barrel aged golden wild ales on local cherries. Made with Husk Beer in Harrogate.
They tasted through their barrel library in the summer with Danny & Immy from Husk to find some barrels that would work nicely in a British cherry blend.

The blend they came up with was taken from Tawny Port and Sauternes barrels. They came together to give spices, vanilla & a touch of acetic acid that we love in their cherry wild ales.

The resulting blend was rested on ~200 g/l of local cherries, halved and stones left in.

You have just reminded me that I need to do that. And I will be trawling through this post for some of your recommendations.

Some of those above have sold out from Trembling Madness but I'm sure they'll have plenty of others.

I was also looking at this one:

I got her that on the last order, very authentic cherry taste. It has that almondy quality to it.

Very nice, would buy again.
