Hello,

Testing the water here, I’m on the look out for a Winchester 92 (not the 94 thanks) in 44-40 or .45 long colt.

I’m interested in the older US made and the more recent Japanese models.

Thanks
Andy

I used to have a (Uberti)Henry 44-40. good for plinking not suitable for much else as the muzzle velocity is low.
good luck.

You can get much better ballistics if you handload for the 40-40. The Model 92' is a strong action rifle, listed in Lyman's manuals as "Group II Strong Action" rifles. They also show higher performance loads for the 92'.

If you decide on the 44-40, check out the 44-40 cartridge website: Chasing The 44-40 It will take days to read through the whole site.
