There are a few showing here in Devon but we don't get that many till later on depending upon the weather.
A cold snap could bring some down by the next full moon.

Seeing my first woodcocks now whilst out game shooting and stalking but only in very low numbers. Certainly, not in the numbers I used to see 10 and 20 years ago. Maybe this cold spell will bring more

I was out last Friday on the foxes, one field was wet stubble, I counted 15 Woodcock, adjacent grass field, 2.

I suspect I'm a bit close to the coast. I haven't seen that number together for years here.

There starting to arrive with the recent full moon in NI but elusive as ever. Pal saw nine last Weds and on Monday on the same ground we saw nada!

On a shoot in North Shropshire last Saturday,25/Nov. a stream of 14 woodcock flushed out of one covert ! None were shot at .

Numbers just starting to build on the grasses adjacent to some very good holding woods a few miles from the coast and expecting bulk of arrivals on this current moon and up to Christmas.
Nothing official just what’s seen with thermal whilst foxing over the same ground over the last few years, and numbers feeding of an eve

Seeing quite a few now SD - we had the wind last week and a good moon - I was out foxing and was watching them land in the fields - with very good numbers of snipe - which is very unusual for us

I did the woodcock count in the summer with the BTO for our site and a local park

We had a few roding but the park i think i only saw 1

Fed up putting them up on Saturday, actually had to shoot 1 in the end for the dogs! Good few about!

Seen more than usual already this year on my ground. They're safe here, as I'd never contemplate shooting one. In fact, one of the nicest things about having acquired the freehold sporting rights to the land that I farm is that now no-one else can shoot the woodcock either!
