Yes, bolts and ammunition are stored separately at home, shotguns should have the fore end removed and stored separately if possible . They are supposed to be transported separately too, in a locked container and not accessible from the passenger compartment.
That’s what the law says, most people don’t bother with the locked container bit, just keeping the bolt out during transport.
I travel with the firearm cased and breech flagged or the shotgun broken down into 2 sections and cased on the floor or in the boot. Ammo bolt and knives are in the shooting bag on the back seat. Dogs are in the boot too and when they kick off, no one asks to examine whatever else is in it.

In England/Wales I cannot find a stipulation that shotguns should be stored in pieces - just wise when out with one in a vehicle. Anyway, security is the owners responsibility - not the police.

And where I live we can have them uncased but not loaded in vehicles. The Libs went bezerk when our Governor passed that bill. No increase in crime and blood didn’t run through the streets. Weird, I know.

The advice I was given was to remove the forend if you're going to be leaving them in the car while you're not in it, i.e. nipping into the shop to grab a sandwich on the way or stopping at services etc. and take it with you. I'd guess same with a bolt, as both ways it renders the gun useless without effort.

As for two guns the same in different calibres, I absolutely would! If you've got a rifle/stock setup you get on with, why not?!

Yes, I have done so tikka Tac A1 in 6.5 and now 223 (started as a CTR now in a Tac A1 chassis).

Maybe not the exact same as I dont hold a firearm certificate at this particular moment, but If another CZ 527 popped up in .222 or a similar chambering I would be inclined too purchase it especially since overall there not expensive guns.

I wonder if anyone's cut down the barrels at all with any negative effects? I'm sure it loses velocity obviously, but I wonder what the magic number of removed inches is too keep It legal with factory ammunition for roe, that's my only complaint with them I feel like a 22-24" barrel with a mod on the end Is a bit excessive but for being a women and not inherently designed for one they fit pretty well.

i have 2 x Tikka T3. 1 x 6.5Cm 1 x 243

i did worry about mixing up but never have done, one has a Z8 on it, one has an Alpex on it. i use SAkO rounds on the 243 (black box) and Winchester on the 6.5 (white box) to ensure no mistakes made

A sound method. I have a different colour pistol grip and fore end weights on mine 2. Slightly different scopes but both the same physical size and look almost the same, I keep a sunshade on the 223. Bolts kept in different colour holsters plane for 6.5 camo for the 223. Mags are also marked up
