Would you buy a second rifle of the same make and model as you already own, just a different calibre?

I have two Bergara b14 thumbholes. 308 is 20in with a 8x56 and I lift it when go stalking in woodland, 6.5cm is a 22in with 3-12x56 and I take it for hills where I’ll be shooting further and want to buck the wind

Do you need two - no
Do you want two - yes
Can you justify two - just about

I think one consideration I wish I’d have known was that the rifle is often the affordable part - scope, rings, rails, bipods, slings, mags and ammo often inflates the cost of ownership if you want another complete set up

I mounted all my rifles with adapters and run one bipod and one sling, I also use the same thread pitch across all my rifles so I have the option of swapping mods. And same caliber family means all mags are interchangeable. This invariably helps with costs of putting together packages

I have a tikka in 6.5 creedmore and was very tempted to buy the same again for my .223. Instead I bought a sauer 100 keeper and pleased I did. As much as I like each rifle, I like having the difference, I get to use 2 different rifles.
