Yeti or Stanly flask

Hi I’m looking at getting a good flask for the coming winter and wondered what you guys use.
I’ve been told that the above are good.
Any thoughts?
Regards Dan

I've a thermos rugged , heavy but prewarmed is hot for whole day,

A good thermal mug prewarmed will be good for 6-8 he's I've a camelbak and a thermos one, both cracking. Non leak too

Tried Stanley, ok, but heavy, and bulky for the volume.

I have this in both 470, & 900ml, and they are excellent. Expensive, but worth it IMO.

Pre heat as others have said.

Thermos Ultimate

If you come across a company called Protobel.co.uk, I'd give it a wide birth, to be on the safe side.

Exactly the same as mine, excellent flask 👍🏻

Stanley. All metal and practically indestructable in normal use.
Pre heat and you'll have a hot drink available all day.

I’ve got an old thermos from my dad which he had forever, it’s bruised and bashed but works perfectly.

I saw a nice Stanley in tisos and thought I would upgrade my old thermos, on aesthetics only. I couldn’t believe how bad it was in comparison. It doesn’t keep anything hot at all. It’s not a patch on the thermos and I have considered writing a complaint for a while.

Stick with the thermos mate.

Stanley is just a badge now - the company as was ceased to exist at least 10 years ago. Heavy and expensive, with huge variation in quality. Some are good, some really are not.

From what I’ve been able to work out, nearly all insulated flasks, regardless of brand, are identical and made in 1-2 factories. The only thing that changes is the outer plastic decorations and branding.

So I don’t think it matters what you buy.

I’ve got the Yetis. The old man has some ancient Stanley flask that clearly is still doing the job.

A 1 cup for a dog walk carried in a decent sized pocket - yeti wins hands down.

For a shoot day, the Stanley but it is heavy

Another vote for Thermos Ultimate.
Filled a couple of flasks with tea before heading down to the game fair Thursday afternoon. One remained unopened until Saturday morning, and it was still hot enough to burn my mouth.
I also have the small version of the same flask, which slips easily into the side pocket of a backpack for stalking.
They feel a bit lightweight, but they definitely do the job.

I have an older Stanley, it’s an absolute beast, zero complaints.

I was looking for a thermal mug of late and simply couldn’t believe how much a yeti was, and you had to pay extra for a leak proof lid, circa £90 all in. Nuts. Went Stanley again-my only complaint is that it’s too good, keep burning my mouth.

The older ones were like that all right, the ones made in the US of A with a parts list stamped into the bottom and enough heft for the odd bout of humane dispatch if required.
The Chinese manufactured ones are pretty pathetic version of the real thing.
I have a 30year old half gallon model for all day use and a 1liter Thermos for shorter or solo trips.
The Kelly kettle is worth a look if you’re out for extended periods, if nothing else it provides endless entertainment for your friends.

I never put anything except hot water into my flasks, that way you get the benefits of being able to make whatever you feel like fresh and you never have to clean out the flask. You also have warm water to wash your hands if required.

Whatever one you choose make sure it is a stainless steel vacuum flask. I have an unbranded one that retains heat better than any branded ones. Also a 500ml vacuum cup is good for about £4. Keeps coffee hot 7hrs, however once the initial seal has been broken the rest cools quite rapidly. In the house it keeps coffee hot for an hour without the lid.

1L Stanley, 810g, .9L Thermos, 390g !

Only advantage with the Stanley, is the bigger cup, but that's it.
I don't have the thermos so I wohldn't know.

I have run over my stanley with a trailer of straw bales and it came off unscathed. That's what the extra weight gets you.

I have used the stanley ones since they first came out whilst in the army... only dont use the original one as i left it on a marsh and it went with the tide. i have dropped them off the back of moving trucks, left one on the front wing of the landy... heard it hit the floor on the first bend... all survived it keeps it hot enough for me to drink when i want.... have the 05 and 07 litre ( 2 and 3 mug) size and a food one

never had any need to try the other brands
