Seriously?

The League of Nations was the for runner of the EU, look it up

It failed due to in fighting lack of support from key members but out of the ashes came the EU which is failing because of lack of support and in fighting.

The EU may well fail as well but it WILL be replaced because its the only logical way forward.

Well, of the UN, really. The EU goes a lot further in both ambition and realisation than the UN on certain matters, although the purpose of both organisations is not exactly the same.

Most surely! I keep saying I desperately want it to turn out well - I do love the country of my birth. My sons may want to return to it.

It isn't the path I would have chosen - and it annoys me that rights and privileges afforded to me will be denied to my children, but it is the decision that British people have taken, and the best must be made of it.

But, the historian in me revolts over the rhetoric. There are real problems with the EU, but so much of what British people feel hurt and cheated about won't be addressed by leaving the EU. We need to understand that in order to shape the UK's post EU future for the best. To make the best plan for the UK, we've got to be honest about the problems we need to fix.

Repeated media lies about straight bananas and "the EU said we had to" sell newspapers right enough - might even make people feel better, but won't make UK manufacturers competitive, won't stop benefit cheats, won't make non-doms pay their fair share.

Brexit is decided - but we've got to be honest to make the future work for the UK.

According to Hornet 6, we don't need houses, the EU is somehow forcing them to be built. According to you, we DO need them. Which is it? Who's building them? Why? I bet you you it isn't the EU forcing developers in Rochford to build houses for migrant workers...

I am baffeled as to what optimism has to do with it?

I am very optimistic that the error of this decision will become apparent and we will re join the EU (or some new version of it) at some future date, in some form.

Sadly I might not live long enough to see it, but it will happen, of that I have no doubt.

If your saying I am not being optimistic about our near future? I am just being realistic.
The logistics and shear financial cost of exiting the EU are going to be painfull in the short term. That's just common sense. We are already strapped for cash and its going to cost billions.

As a business man I can see advantages if we adopt the Hong Kong model and become a tax haven but that only benefits the top 10% of the population. The rest are screwed.

Outside of this model I cant envisage a situation where we would gain advantage or even maintain our present situation

Sadly most of the Exit mob just go on about some supposed glorious indipendance with no viable business model to back it up and some truly laughable vision of reversing the immigration situation and getting us back to a single race culture???

Face the fact we have had no investment in training for 30 years. We have simply imported our skilled workers

Face the fact the UK born workforce will not tolerate the conditions imposed on low income poor working conditions jobs and we are relient on unskilled hard labour being imported

We created this situation, it was not forced upon us

Are you aware of the fact we ADVERTISED in India for immigration in the 70s and ACTIVLY PROMOTED I
 
Yes but the UN is arguably a global organisation dealing with world finance, military intervention, peace keeping and world wide disasters. The League of nations was also had a strong trade element and was far akin to the EU in this reguard

What about the high paid low skilled jobs that our lazy work force compare to thier benefits package when deciding to get out of bed or not???

Well atleast the UN will be there to sort us out when Brexit turns into WW3.
Some would say WW3 is already happening.....in neighbourhoods all over Europe!!!!

I work with guys all over world and yes there are areas in the U.K. Where it is WW3 & people are moving in creating & taking age old issues with them fighting with tribal & other religious peoples in their new home , turning what was a peaceful street for locals who were there originally into a no go zone , where even police don't go after dark unless mob handed
