Just put about 20 cast bullets through it to work out what's subsonic.

90gr Saeco gas checked bullet seated at 2.150" - 3.2gr Vihtavuori N310, CCI 400 primer

120gr custom cast bullet powder coated then tumbled in Lee liquid Alox seated at 2.120" (bullet is 1.080" long) - 3.8gr Viht N310, CCI 400 primer.

There were round holes in firewood I was shooting from about 10m so it appears that they're stabilising so far.

Great fun lobbing a subsonic with 3x the energy of a .22lr.

I know the feeling, shoot 158gr subsonic in my 357. Great fun.

Are those lengths right? That's the same length as my 9.3x57!

Yes, the bullets are long and slender, seated way into the case. I didn't want to buy an expander die so am using my .270 FL die to do the same job.

I cast the 120gr (they might actually be heavier) from 20:1 Lead Tin by weight. Fairly soft apparently but with the powder coating and alox they leave the bore shiny with no lead or powder residue - very handy.

The Sako short action magazine certainly won't accept cartridges which are over 3" long.... you might need to edit a post, Rory.
Interesting project- well done with the stock.

Cheers, guy's, didnt realise that I wrote 3 instead of 2! Changed.

Thanks re stock, it's made me realise what a difference a good fitting stock makes. Need to Address this issue on my Tikka T3 as it's made for small people.

Great rig shame it's not roe legal as it would be spot on enjoy if you get it deer legal please let us know as it's a great calibre.

Thanks, guys. It probably wont be Roe legal in England but it is in Scotland. I think I'll get close to 1700ft.lb with 62gr GS Custom bullets though if I load it to 5.56x45 pressures.

I have some Lovex D073.4 powder on the way (Accurate 2230 equivalent). I'll see how much I'm able to stuff in a case and let you know velocities and results on Roe.
