I did the auction for second year this year in the Roe rut and took a chap out for a couple days. As always a nice experience for me although I do feel the pressure a bit given what he paid - I don't know how you professional guys do it i always feel a bit pressure to deliver and a bit guilty when a stalk doesn't work (Pine M take note!)v memorable stalks
Anyway, older guy this year (75), done a lot of stalking but not recently. Got him a younger buck first evening and a v good stalk. saw a fair bit and he got a youngster in the end and missed a 6 pointer when i left him in high seat with the buttalo when I went to get the carcass and truck towards end evening
Morning stalk, mooched around on foot for about an hour then into high seat I knew there was a fair buck kicking around We settled, asked if all ok then squeaked This boy charged in exactly form where expecting. And knew straight away a medal. eventually shot
However when asked if wanted head said no
I reckon he is at least bronze and probably silver. Each to his own but decided anyway I would clean him up, if only for the interesting 7th point and v black from fraying on beans
what struck me was he looks good post shot but boiled out I m sure silver and maybe gold I compared him with those I have shot and in between Really like the conformation especially as tried to get him last year and failed
Re not wanting head. i get that i have too many now inc Africa and will only keep special (v memorable stalks or a world record!)
Thoughts on
attitude
head itself
pressure on semi prof guides (I ask as retire from city job 9 months and half thinking about it)
