Ditch the vortex and idea of aimpoint. Buy a S&B Exos 1-8x24 FD7 and you will be golden for all your hunting. At 8x, whilst the FOV isn’t huge, it’s more than enough for shots to 1000yds if you are so inclined. If you are a knob twiddler, they can fit mil or moa turrets as well, better imho than the decorative visual impairment you are currently using...being a bit cheeky here, but am also serious!Which in peoples opinion would be the best for driven boar aimpoint or z81 with the illuminated red ring, to go on a 30-06 sauer, I am currently using a vortex strike eagle with a halo xmas tree type reticule, which I find a bit vague on occasions.
Bear in mind that an aimpoint wont work if you have an astigmatism in your eye

Aimpoint is great for boar,, Erik is right, but you are buying another set of optics...I just like the idea of 1 scope for one rifle, one barrel, one ammo choice, etc , keep it simple[/
That's all very nice if you have 1'750 pounds to spend on something you might only use twice a year if you are lucky,
An aimpoint micro 2 is perfect for driven Boar and also general stalking at normal woodland ranges.
Not quite true, it's just that it may not work so well as per video below;

I just said it looked liked an interesting proposition (although I accept it's far from cheap)! Actually all I have these days is a S&B 6x42 & an Aimpoint Micro 2 & that works well enough for me. It's just that there are occasions when it would be helpful to have everything within the one scope.

no, my point is to use it as an all round all year scope. 1-8x24 or similar that is, or Leica 1.25-8x32
personally I’m an iron sight and 4x32 or 4x36 guy, but I know I’m a unique breed
book yourself in an a running wild boar range and try out a few different set-ups.
Those with red dot sights seem to hit the wild boar in the correct spot much more than those who use a scope - even if it is a Premium Branded low magn. scope.
I shoot my 4x scopes with both eyes open no problem. Would happily shoot running game with a 4x tbh. In all honesty, do people close one eye when shooting rifles?? I sure don’t! Who shoots a shotgun with one eye closed?? No one (trained) hopefully...
