6.5 Creedmoor 143g ELD X Powder Advice

I am just about to start working up a load for my 6.5 Creedmoor (Remington 700 Magpul).
I have decided to use the Hornady 143g ELD X and I would appreciate some advice on which powder to use please. I will be using once fired Hornady or Norma brass (full length resized) and large match primers.

Appreciated

Very interested in this, as I am about to start reloading for 6.5 Creedmoor too, albeit with Lapua SR primer brass, and 123 grain bullets. The prevailing powder seems to be H4350 and RS62 from what I have read elsewhere on t'interweb.

I have the 6.5CM TikTak, 24" barrel, Lapua SR cases, 143 ELD-X, Rem SR primers.

I worked up loads in RS60, RS70, and Norma MRP, but the RS60 gave the most accurate result, least powder, and easiest to get hold of.

I found that it liked shooting 2850-2875fps, and this initially required 42.6gn RS60.

After doing some more shooting, it seemed to lose a little accuracy, and I found it had gained 80-100fps, now that it had several rounds through it, and been cleaned a few times, so I will drop that load down, until I get back into the 2850-2875 bracket.

Ramshot Hunter for me, it's a ball powder so meters well and has given low ES/SD which I'm happy with although it's all of a sudden hard to get hold of locally.

Ramshot did this a while back. If I could guarantee supply I would start development with my creedmoor when it lands.

What velocity are you achieving? With barrel length please.

I just ordered some Shooter's World (Lovex)SW 4350 which I believe is rebranded SO70 Lovex. I bought it as an inexpensive alternative to H4350. ~Muir

24" Tikka Tac A1 and off the top of my head it's just shy of 2700fps.

I shoot 143gn ELD-X through my Creedmoor (8.5" twist, 22" barrel). I use factory Hornady Precision Hunter because having seen it shoot, I genuinely cannot imagine it being more accurate using my home loads. A guy went through the motions quite recently on another forum trying to replicate this ammo and various powders came up. See link below:

Hornady 6.5 Creedmoor Precision Hunter 143 grain ELDX - Blaserbuds; the worlds superlative information source, for these products

If you find the magic recipe, I'd love to know it!

All best,

Z.

more stable in high temperature and better barrel life . vitualy identical to IMR4350 . and unlike H4350 ..... easily availabel.

I assume barrel time is mainly related to velocity ? So if I just dropped the load, to a lower node, presumably, that would decrease velocity, and increase barrel life ?

its just that the RS powders are easy for me to get locally, and are relatively cheap.
