I've just done a Sit in/Sit on NPTC course with Borders College in Newton St Boswellls (on Wednesday).

Hi John, was the 'Sit In' element conducted in an Argo or a Gator/Mule type vehicle and will the cert/qual that you receive cover both? The reason I ask is that I tried for ages to get to the bottom of this; some say that it should state 'Skid steered' or 'Conventionally Steered', others say 'Sit in' is good enough and covers everything then yet another opinion is that even if it simply says 'Sit In' it is still only valid for the machine that you used on the test (but this doesn't appear anywhere on the cert?!). Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Glyn. Sit in was in a Kubota. I've e-mailed you the course material. I see this certificate as being sufficient for all types of Sit in off road vehicles. This assessment was much more rigorous and comprehensive than the previous Argo specific assessment that I did.

I also did mine at Borders and was told, along with two stalkers on the course that Argo was covered with the sit in assessment

Try Ian Wilson from East West training. He will do Lantra or NPTC. He will also advise you which ones to take. He travels all over and might be able to fit you in somewhere close to you. 07909517378. He comes up our way to do our guys. J
