Has anyone else noticed a sharp rise this year in the numbers of Boar around the FoD, usually cull about 25 each year but this year have taken 43 since June and still they come

I’ve shot a lot more this year also. Possibly the FC cull has pushed them further afield? Maybe they have had a few prolific breeding seasons? Or perhaps the predictions of our European friends are coming to fruition? Not sure their range has increased drastically.

I am seeing bigger groups about this year, similar sizes to maybe 8-10 years ago, when group sizes seemed to diminish. Overall definitely more with me, no idea how numbers in other areas of the FOD are fairing.

The extreme minority interest British anti-shooting lobby talk openly about wanting boar relocations in preference to culling. With free range pig farms round Thetford forest and widely spread in Norfolk truly a lunatic fringe choice. Just as pathetic as suggesting Lynx introductions in Thetford.

No doubt many who read this will be the rubber gun club / no kill pant wetters lurking on this and every other shooting forum.

Have a look at Kent County Council. They were advocating rewilding project all around Kent including boar and bison!

Charging £100. Upwards to shoot a boar do they really want them culled right down to a manageable level.

I would suggest folk taking out paying clients would account for only a tiny fraction boar culled......although perhaps a healthy bank balance!
