3 Calibres

Coyote - Weatherby Vanguard .243
Hog - Marlin 336W 30-30
Deer - CZ 550 American 6.5x55

That’s what I use most of the time and any will do in a pinch for the other, I’ve killed a number of Axis with the 30-30 cuz I only see them at night. I have not rabbit hunted in years.

Location plays a part too. “Everything’s big in Texas”, does not apply to non high fence whitetail deer. In alberta boy’s neck of the woods they are two and quite often three times heavier than in Texas. I believe in Bergmann’s rule. In that case I might dust off my .270 or 30-06 but then again I might not.

For me it's what sits in the cabinet right now ....

.22 rimfire..... Bunnies, grounded squirrels and the like
.204 Ruger...... Foxes, foxes, foxes and crows at silly ranges :)
.270 Win. ......Deer dropper. (I was taught at a young age ..."If you can't kill it clean with a .270, you probably can't kill it clean with anything")

.22 hornet, .25-06 and .300WM - what I have now!

You can load the .25-06 with 75-80gn BTs for fox and a heavier 117gn for deer. The winny you can load with a mild load of 180gn so it shoots like a .308 or stoke it up to full power for big reds on the hill.

Hornet covers you for rabbits and foxes out to 200y easy.

117gr Sierra SBT Gameking per chance? My 257 Roberts loves 'em!

Only 3.....right if was only allowed to keep three of mine it would be

25-06
7x64
300wm

if rabbits were more of an issue I’d need to reconsider the 06...it does the job but collecting all the parts is a pain!

.22 r/f and 25.05 and 7mm rem mag for me!!they are 3 out of the 7 calibres I have already.the .25 is the debatable one but it’s flat and fast for foxes and good on roe as the 7mm is a bit big for roe really

For all the shooting i do (or more wish I could do) then I'd opt for what I already have:-

.22lr (I don't think anyone should be without one of these)
.243 (good all rounder 85gr gamekings for everything)
.270 (would have been 7x57r if one had been available but still applies)

You'd be surprised how many large animals are taken with a Swede up here , or for that matter a 30/30 .
