I like him because he sticks two fingers up to the mainstream media (including Biased British Broadcasting Corporation).
By not giving full details of his actions, he and Boris were sticking two fingers up to us this time. I am glad they changed their minds eventually. They could have prevented all the media Hoo-Ha by just responding at the outset with a full account of his movements.
As it was lovely weather one man and his dog were doing something much more useful when his question and answer session was broadcast and have only watched him delivering his prepared statement.

To me, Dominic Cummings came over very well.
Yes, he broke the lockdown guide lines on three occasions...going back to Downing street after his wife was showing symptoms, not self-isolating at home but travelling whilst his wife was knowingly infective, and taking a trip out to Barnards Castle...
If he thought initially that his wife was simply unwell with something other than Covid-19 which justified his returning to Downing street, as Michael Gove claimed this morning, his reason for then travelling North is diminished. The comment by the Police that had he been stopped on the journey north and given those reasons he would have been turned around and sent home. The argument for not travelling, and thereby putting the emergency services at risk, which prevented many people from making their families lives safer or deaths easier was obviously ignored by him.
The trip to Barnards Castle to "test his eyesight" to see if he was fit to do the 5 hour drive the next day does not ring true to me. After 30 minutes driving to Barnards Castle he fell so unwell that he had to sit on bench beside the river...that indicates to me that he had failed his self imposed trial run for the 5 hour journey...and yet he still travelled the next day. What was the justification of the test, if he then ignored the result?
However I am glad to say it is my place to comment and not to judge.
I do not think he did anything unreasonable as a concerned father and husband...as a public figure he knew he would be under media spotlight so it seems unwise. But on the other hand..."Walk a mile in his shoes"...one of the words he used was "target" referring to his London home, and the reason he did not make his movements public at the time, was in order to protect his Parents' and Sister's home from harassment ...it brought home the different factors in the equation for one of the ruling elite that I had not considered previously.
My ongoing criticism remains that he should have given these details when the story first broke rather than putting two fingers up to the Public. He was back in London and there was no threat of harassment to his Parents. Government Ministers and others trying to dismiss the need for any explanation of his movements as a media Witch Hunt further weakened the Government's authority.
We can only wait and see what damage the knock on effect will be to the adherence of the lockdown rules by ordinary folk.
