Dominic Cummings clash fan or not ??

"So if you thought your eyesight might have gone a bit wonky, you'd test it by putting your wife and child in the car and taking them for a drive to a local castle?"
In the English Midlands we do but nothing else to check our eyes. Rather than simply stand outside our houses and try and read the customary car number plate seventy-five feet distant.

On Bank Holidays the A38 off the M6 at Spaghetti Junction is so nose to tail with car drivers self administering themselves eye tests that it's now called the Aston Vision Expressway.

I must say how impressed I am with our wonderful photo journalists, setting a great example of conforming to the Social Distancing rules. I mean, it would have been so easy for them to act like a bunch of scavenging Hyenas around a rotting carcass, jostle and push each other around like school kids at a tuck shop, and generally act like a bunch of irresponsible, rude, ignorant, bullying fcuking morons.........Well done them.

Totally agree with you, those fekin hyenas did more to facilitate the spread of Covid in reporting on this that Cummings could have done in ten trips up North, I would love to see them questioned by the Police about their behaviour, hypocritical bunch of cnuts every one of them.

I like him because he sticks two fingers up to the mainstream media (including Biased British Broadcasting Corporation).

By not giving full details of his actions, he and Boris were sticking two fingers up to us this time. I am glad they changed their minds eventually. They could have prevented all the media Hoo-Ha by just responding at the outset with a full account of his movements.

As it was lovely weather one man and his dog were doing something much more useful when his question and answer session was broadcast and have only watched him delivering his prepared statement.

To me, Dominic Cummings came over very well.

Yes, he broke the lockdown guide lines on three occasions...going back to Downing street after his wife was showing symptoms, not self-isolating at home but travelling whilst his wife was knowingly infective, and taking a trip out to Barnards Castle...

If he thought initially that his wife was simply unwell with something other than Covid-19 which justified his returning to Downing street, as Michael Gove claimed this morning, his reason for then travelling North is diminished. The comment by the Police that had he been stopped on the journey north and given those reasons he would have been turned around and sent home. The argument for not travelling, and thereby putting the emergency services at risk, which prevented many people from making their families lives safer or deaths easier was obviously ignored by him.

The trip to Barnards Castle to "test his eyesight" to see if he was fit to do the 5 hour drive the next day does not ring true to me. After 30 minutes driving to Barnards Castle he fell so unwell that he had to sit on bench beside the river...that indicates to me that he had failed his self imposed trial run for the 5 hour journey...and yet he still travelled the next day. What was the justification of the test, if he then ignored the result?

However I am glad to say it is my place to comment and not to judge.

I do not think he did anything unreasonable as a concerned father and husband...as a public figure he knew he would be under media spotlight so it seems unwise. But on the other hand..."Walk a mile in his shoes"...one of the words he used was "target" referring to his London home, and the reason he did not make his movements public at the time, was in order to protect his Parents' and Sister's home from harassment ...it brought home the different factors in the equation for one of the ruling elite that I had not considered previously.

My ongoing criticism remains that he should have given these details when the story first broke rather than putting two fingers up to the Public. He was back in London and there was no threat of harassment to his Parents. Government Ministers and others trying to dismiss the need for any explanation of his movements as a media Witch Hunt further weakened the Government's authority.

We can only wait and see what damage the knock on effect will be to the adherence of the lockdown rules by ordinary folk.

I was in the city centre of Leicester today saw two police officers and gave them a cheery "Hello" and then added "Just walking about testing my eyes". As later tonight I'll be using those same eyes to go out looking for badgers...

I think his wife and himself should have asked for tests for themselves and their child if he thought any of them might be infected. Pretty sure he’d be fast tracked for testing, then he could have decided what to do.
Ken.

If you were blind you could find badgers.

As i said weeks ago( lockdown )was a good word at the time but not when used in context with what we have now as (lockdown eased use your common sense )we are talking joe public here, some one showed me a pic on his phone to day of a clown who stuck corn on the cob in a drill chuck! FFS:rolleyes: yes he knocked half his teeth out, should have slapped him round the head at same time!

Indeed, no argument from me.

But they wouldn’t be there if he hadn’t have done it. We ought to also not assume that this is purely press-driven - this one especially has p!ssed a number of conservatives over the last 4-5 years.
Quite sure he ****ed off Oliver Letwin et al, but there are 40 odd new MPs who might not agree.

...yet taking his infected wife with him? Seems a rather incoherent theory.

Had he stayed in London, the situation was that they would have needed to bring somebody in to care for the children which would have involved almost certsinly infecting them. Instead they went somewhere where they could be sure of not infecting anyone. It's a stupid fuss about something of no consequence. Several Labour politicians appear to escaped any significant scrutiny for doing worse. Wonder why that might be...

Not to mention that his wife’s family lives in London......

And none of this would have happened if people who knew about it in the first place didn't allow their citizens to leave until it was sorted out.

Well really believe everybody believes it applies to them. For example beaches were closed where I am and people fined anybody sitting down on a bench.
