BASC to remove "Legal Expenses Cover" wef 31 July 2020

We need help and fast! basc have rolled over and done untold harm to our cause with staff in the higher echelons just doing what they want and drawing huge salarys for acheiving sweet f all in fact taking us backwards.
I will never join again

You can negotiate the same discount without basc membership at most dealers. The discount applies to list price and nobody expects to pay full list price.

Hi
I have obviously misunderstood how this worked. I presumed you did the deal with the dealership and then the basc discount was added by the manufacturer. This left the dealership margin intact. How naïve of me.

It will be interesting to see what items constitute either the main agenda or "any other business" at the AGM, virtual though it may be. All those like TimBrayford who remain members should note that items for AOB must be advised to the Chairman by a certain date before the meeting. Chairman, I think being Eoghan Cameron. A quick check of the rules would be wise.
I am looking forward to reading the minutes.

Probably won’t be edifying
True, but if there is little/nothing about medicals, lead or insurance, then it will say as much as if there is elegant detail.
As you say though I wont hold my breath and have a significantly shrinking degree of interest.
The slide has seemingly accelerated - what is needed is a worthwhile replacement.
To think, if they had answered my letter, i had joined, and had been elected, maybe we could have started the change we all need to see and stemmed the hemorrhage of members.
No-one else with a radical agenda seems to have come forward, change is perhaps unwelcome at base and thus not proposed by most.

Whether or not I remain a member depends much upon a major shift of attitude from those at the top!

How Tim, do you get that across to 'those at the top', especially if, as seems, they are not listening and direct the staff to do the same ? Are you 'attending' the AGM or raising an item under AOB as in 'no confidence' and asking it to be put to a full member referendum ? Someone needs to do something a little risky or the slide will continue.

I'm hoping that the BASC Council elections will bring in some new faces with a greater respect for the membership, those at the top seem to have forgotten that its they who serve us and not vice-versa. Over to you Conor O'Gorman, what's the view from the top?

BASC have few supporters on this forum and it would seem even those who are still members are fast loosing confidence, I don’t engage with any other similar forums but wonder how BASC are viewed on them because if SD members are indicative of the general opinion those at BASC should be very concerned. A good question to ask of BASC is how the membership figures are trending.

Well back in 2016 the Leave/Remain voting thread that I started on her produced an exact duplication of the actual Referendum result. So maybe, yes, BASC are seen the same elsewhere?

Well I can tell you that on the Airgun Forum, BASC have always had decent support from the community but this seems to have turned the tide, several members have written for explanations or refunds as the terms of their insurance have changed and so far it’s looks as if BASC are towing the ”Tough Tits“ line.
Is anyone from BASC on here able to clarify that current members will have legal expenses honoured for the duration of their existing policy they paid for?

Jer there is another forum that I often read and the response on there seems very similar to the views expressed on this site.

Yorkie that's exactly the way that I read it also.
Incidentally the NGO operate a similar scheme.

I dont think it will take many minutes, guess a whitewash will be the order of the day.

Still rising.

I was told yesterday that the reason for the staff increase was partly due to coping with the membership increase. A few sounding off on online forums about leaving don't appear to be having an impact so this gives the carte blanche to carry on regardless I'm afraid.
