A message to BASC...

I don't accept that fair criticism is 'BASC bashing' , everything I have suggested is based on fact, not fiction or wishful thinking - other than that, I have much better things to do than listen to 18 episodes of a 'podcast'.
I wonder how much medicals, as well as non-lead ammunition, as well as, higher SGC and FC fees will impact those who want to start shooting ?
BASC have demonstrated no control over any of these issues so any suggestion they want to protect shooting is nonsense - young people are the future of shooting.
Murray50, your constant use of the 'heap' face, whilst being your BASC supportive 'comment' is wearing a bit thin - it says nothing and, to my mind, makes you look a little silly - your choice, but a bit of a throw-away gesture when you have nothing sensible to say. Yes, I have added you to the ignored pile.

One for all and all for one. If only we could then we would be able to challenge some of the changes proposed. we all need to move forward together and our chosen group's fight together .
How you envisage that happening would be good - interested to hear.

Think things will just rumble along as as they are for a good while longer yet with the odd skirmish here and there along the way with more restrictions put in place as time goes by. Don’t think we need crystal ball , future not bright in general and we must move with the times if possible and enjoy what we can whilst we can, wish basc every success.

If all shooting organisations joined up no doubt BASC would want to have the last word on anything being the VOICE. So we would be no better off. The only time BASC will consider merging with any other shooting organisations will be when it has lost a lot of members.

Happy days

MY BASC is due the end of the month SACS or any ideas
So SACS, well...
No legal cover.
Air guns/rifles haven't faired well under their watch.
Grouse shooting licencing scheme?

Another example of lots of little voices against the establishment going nowhere rsther than one united front.

What events will SACS be running in the South-East?

Some progress has been made on the issues raised earlier in this thread about some forces freezing first time grant applications.

Northamptonshire, North Yorkshire, Kent and Thames Valley police firearms licensing departments have revised their policy on grant applications after pressure from BASC, press coverage and intervention by MPs. More details here:

Improvements made to firearms licensing service - The British Association for Shooting and Conservation

There are still issues with other forces freezing first time grants to be sorted out and there are still so many fundamental issues with firearms licensing in England and Wales to be resolved. On that note I would recommend a listen of Episode 17 of the BASC podcast for a detailed 30 mins insight into work that is being done and some of the obstacles that have arisen - from a police perspective and a BASC perspective. Click link below and then click on Episode 17 to start listening.
