What .22LR for work/play?

I'd like to recommend a Weihrauch HW60 as I've got one (well two actually, a matching pair in .22 and HMR) and I'm generally a great fan of Weihrauch.
But the one thing that puts me off an HW in .22LR is the weak case ejection. Unless you're really vigorous with the bolt, the case more often than not just drops out of the extractor and sits in the breech causing a jam. It's a pain. For this reason alone, next time, I would buy a Sako or an Anschutz.

What's the complaint with the Remington 597?

I picked up a used one last week and I'm delighted with it. The guy I bought it from told me it cycles subsonics all day long, I tried it with the cheap bulk pack of Federal 36 grain and it hasn't missed a beat in over a couple of hundred rounds so far and it's accurate.
The revised version is reputed to be much improved but the original version was very unreliable. A guy in our club bought one and it almost never fired a full magazine without some sort of stoppage.

Hmmmm my favorite 22 is a circa 1920’s Winchester Model 1890 pump in 22 Short my maternal grandfather bought new . Then I have a circa 1972 Ruger 10/22 that’s only had a better trigger installed and the headspace fixed . Also have a circa 1975 Ruger 10/22 that now has a Whistle Pig threaded barrel , Hogue stock , different trigger and a suppressor . And finally a CZ452 FS that has had trigger refinement . I’m not a big 22 shooter anymore but I seem to have acquired a couple recently for whatever reason . I’d still like to find a 1960’s era Steyr Zephyer Mannlicher stocked 22LR but they’re in the 2-3G neighborhood in the USA now .

Got cz 452 heavy barrel in 22 and 17hmr, used and abused in all weather and never had a problem with them, proper work tool and good prices what more could you ask for 👍

The double stack magazine follower would jam on unburnt powder dropping in it from the action. HV ammo worked better due to the more energetic bolt cycle loosening the sticky mag follower.
Shame really as the rifle is a nice fit and certainly accurate.
I have no idea what the fix is on the later ones but suspect it's in the magazine and possibly a lighter bolt or one of the bolts two springs omitted.

Brno 2e, chopped barrel, mod and scope, lots about for little money. They make ace truck guns and as mentioned fitted with a trigger kit are very accurate.
Got two of them and there is no checkering on them, if they get a few knocks or dings I spend a few hours sanding them down and refinishing them again. The Dog chewed one once and you would never know know.

Tried 5 types of ammo and can’t get it to group it’s brought new only fired 90 rounds through it

Probably said it 100 times, original Sako Finfire -secondhand around 400-450 but will be worth the same or more if you are mad enough to sell , very accurate and feel like a scaled down Sako 75 .

I’ve had both a CZ 452 and Browning T Bolt previously but now settled on a Anschutz 1416 which I will be sticking with, some great deals going on them currently. The T Bolts are great but poor triggers. Sounds like a CZ will be best for your needs and good value for the money.
