Price of puppies..

Not the dogs themselves but seeing cargos of pups having micro chips removed or inserted or both on the sea front tells me all I need to know. I could go on.
If you see it happening and don’t report it you’re part of the problem.
I did give a wee hint not to deal with dodgy dealers, the IKC will give you contact details of reliable people, generally breed society secretaries who are knowledgeable and passionate about dogs.
Worth a call, there’s some cracking pups about.

Nearly ever rehoming place will not let a dog go to a house with children under 12 years old. I understand why they do this but it stops almost every family rehoming a dog and forces them to buy a puppy.
Some are asking for two visits to the center and have very specific requirements eg, only dog in house, no cats no children and can’t be left alone. This puts people off as they think the dog is a loony before they even enquire about it.

Do you honestly think someone would stand by and watch without reporting? I reported it to the Police, was told" by the time we get there it will be to late and over" I took photos with camera as did the people I was with, of the dogs, the Vet, the signature in passport etc. We took the evidence to the police who took the SD cards and we never got them back of any information. So you tell me. Irish puppy farms ship both their own bred and European bred dogs to the UK and except stolen dogs from the UK. Common knowledge and each time one is caught another starts up. And the People doing it it are so called good breeders!!! I would not trust the IKC or Vets etc, cannot be trusted. But hey, that's my opinion gained by personal experience. I will leave it at that.

This was bought by a woman over here off pets4homes . She has had it for three weeks it is 3 yrs old and has hip problems queen Anne legs and suffers from anxiety. She paid £800.00 for it . Story is a European family had brought to the UK but could not keep It . It was the sold to a breeder over here who could not handle it .
A friend of mine in Europe had seen pictures of this dog as they had been sent to them they know the bloodline it came from . The breeder sold it too a hunter as a pup for €80.00. The breeder is now being watched by the breed society for that country .

I'm hopefully going to breed 2 litters this year, 1 of Springers and 1 of Labradors.
Both my bitches are health tested, I'm using FTCH sires that I know on them, both sires are health tested.
I'll ask 1200 fo my Labs and 650 for my Springers, I'm breeding so I can keep a pup from each litter.
I've seen Springer pups bred from god knows what quality and heath of the parents for 2000 quid!!!!!
The thing that boils my **** is the colour descriptions of Labradors, one guy was advertising "Charcoal" pups!!!! When did black become charcoal??? "Fox Red" is another, no such thing as Fox Red or Ebony or Sand or Champagne and they shouldn't command such a price tag, Labradors are either BLACK, YELLOW or CHOCOLATE and nothing else.

Think I actually remember seeing silver labs somewhere, wouldn't mind a dna test on them, 🤔🤔🤔 hpr blood maybe 🤔🤔🤔

Steady on my good man, that’s damnably close to a racist remark.
I could have you “ cancelled “ in a thrice for just thinking it.

Not when I'm Irish :stir:.

My comment is on the nonsense spoken all over the UK and here about the Irish and dogs.

"The Irish" cut out chips, "the Irish" steel in uk to breed in Ireland.
It isn't and international organised crime cartel

There’s a litter of Labs in my area with the “silver gene” in them at £3000 !!!! ,
Not everyone is on the gravy train though, a very good friend of mine who runs dogs with me had a mishap , one of his springers got over one of his cocker bitches unintentionally which produced six pups , very well bred parents I may add but a mistake mating of sprockers , legally docked , chipped , properly reared and sold them at £400 , everyone that took them were delighted and commented they were too cheap !
ive been involved with and bred gun dogs for over 35 years and never heard of a “silver gene” in labs but I have in ferrets !!

Paul

I am afraid that I and many like minded folk would NEVER purchase a dog from Ireland after things we have seen etc. And I have had dogs from Ireland in the past.
You can't tar them all with the same brush ...... an old school mate of mine from East Yorks has established a fine kennel south of Cavan, excellent springers & cockers with the kennel name of Givendale Spaniels.

Hate to be the one say it but it does appear to be both fairly well organised and international.
Prime suspects are members of the Irish travelling community and the police and local authorities here and in the U.K. appear to be giving them a free ride.
Dogs are being bought, stolen and bred here and sold in U.K. at at least 100% above Irish prices.
That aside, there are lots of decent backyard breeders with good solid working dogs available.
If you’re prepared to put in a bit of work you could save a few bob

One way to put a stop to all the dog thefts is ban the sale of dogs for money, it's how it's done in my circles, pups are exchanged free of charge to trusted people, when they breed a litter the favour is returned, everyone involved knows the breeding and working ability of the dogs, none are bred to surplus, if the dog isn't fit to be bred from it won't be because there's no insentive. If your charging big money for litters of pups you're part of the problem

I think it is the old saying that a thing is only worth what someone is willing to pay or put another way, if you are daft enough to pay it, they will be daft enough to take it. Anybody who has bred dogs will know dealing with the pups up till 8 weeks old is ok but no one wants to be left with them much longer than this. I have always found dealing with the buyers more of a challenge

I will probably need another dog in 2 years time so hopefully prises will be realistic. If they aren't then it will be the rehoming centres i will be looking at

Police and local authority checked a new traveller site in my area recently, 18 dogs checked none were found to be stolen . Previous owners contacted if not in correct names. So checks are being done

Irish owners are physically cutting microchips from old and unsellable dogs and dumping them.
Sorry thats just bollocks what a stupid thing to say
Dogs are being stolen both sides of the pond then being shared on facebook as stolen if the dog gets too hot to handle dumped there was one that had a muzzle superglued to her face and the chip cut out then dumped

Thats fair enough Keith but it is a considerable amount of money to risk on a dog imo, clearly more sense if great pedigree but still no guarantees. The other thing that makes me laugh... user on here selling over priced pups (you know the breed), not a supporter and all his activity in past 8 months has been on classified ads either buying or selling... not of much use to the site imo but hey ho

£3k- that's nothing ;)- check this:
World's most expensive sheepdog sells for £18k
and I think I'm right in saying that was beaten twice since then.

Yes certainly seems that way. I have been enquiring with various breeders about cockers and springers and there’s a certain sort who are charging way over the norm for the dogs atm. More greed than breed. If you look around and enquire with like minded folk who have a litter for sale, prices are indeed a lot higher than normal but in my opinion not absurd. Recently was offered an ESS pup from amazing lineage, sire was British championship winner etc. pup was sub £1k. When you see adverts at £3k+ for a cocker or springer with no lineage of sire/dam or health scores and are purely pets I genuinely have a wtf moment.
That’s a very good price ! Do you happen to know any breeders with litters at the moment ?
Thanks
L
