Price of puppies..

Hope more dogs in shelters have found a new home, especially if they are just pets and not working dogs.

I wonder what the animal shelters will look like in a years time...

There you go absolute madness! For Sale: - KC reg Teckel dog pups
Sorry don't mean to have a go at the guy breeding these pups but £2500 for a puppy
I breed a litter of KC reg springers this year, £550 to mates and £600 to others, I see on other sites people now asking between £1500-£2000 madness!

I will be breeding my HS later this year who has proven her self and from proven stock in Europe, I will only be looking to cover costs only.

my daughter has just got a sprocker puppy 14 weeks old and it’s a cracker of a dog, learning like a dry sponge taking it all in, less than a 100 quid mainly spent on a vets check, it’s not a worker line as far as we can find out but a cracking family dog for the kids
They are over the moon with little frankie such a lovely little boy, why nobody wanted him i will never know
people who want a non working dog for the family should visit the dogs trust or Battersea first they are loaded with em all sorts to suit everyone’s taste - give a dog a start in life rather than pay rocketing prices

I will be needing a new dog in about 2 years time. I hope prices have calmed down to sensible prices by then. If not then I will be looking for dogs that are being rehomed.

I'm on the look out for an ESS pup, I wish that I'd bought last year when local prices were around £ 400 for non-KC & £650 for KC. Latest prices seem to be £ 2000 ish for non-KC, I think that I'll leave it for now. Those kind of prices must be an incentive for people to breed more litters and at some point supply will rebalance with demand.

Pup prices are insane. My lad was looking for a cocker and some prices were mind boggling
Xmas there will be some cracking dogs in shelters when furloughed owners start work again and that wee mite is a rampant teenager

I hate to see dogs used as a commodity, and many people have crossed from reputable breeders to peddlers during this pandemic with not one thought about the future of the breeds

I'd say obviously however to be more accurate I should probably say in my opinion, the rise in non KC registered pups is due to folk spewing pups out every 6 months from a bitch but only able to register one litter in a 12 month period..

If you want a pup at a more realistic price have a look over here, lots of perfectly fine animals available for €500 or so.
That would normally include chipping, docking and initial vaccination.
Steer clear of any vendor that addresses you as “ boss” or “ mate” and gives a 110% guarantee.
The Irish Kennel Club will be happy to put you in contact with the breed club secretary

The price on mutts is insane. I genuinely believe that has started all these insane prices. 10 years ago 1k for a labradoodle, cracking dogs, seen a few working, but a mutt.

I've seen cockers, not KC reg, one show parent one working parent 3k. Who pays this money. It's insane!!!

2 years ago and exceptionally bred lab with all the health tests on both parents was from £800-1100 now the most unhealthy dogs ever are being bred and the pups are 3k. I'll never pay it, ever.

Is the reason as less litters bred as folk not travelling to get dogs lined during lockdown???

So smaller supply and same or increased demand?

But the prices are absolutely mind blowing, u know wot they say about a fool and his money.
They simply cannot carry on at this level just not sustainable.

Just before prices went mental local FT boy sold a litter IGL winner X Ftch obviously fully health tested/DNA for 1200 quid, don't get me wrong strong money but possibly some of the best FT line pups in country, considering numpties were charging 60p- 800 for I'll thought out rubbish bitches pups.

A mate who has been looking for a lab pup for a while now said he seen some advertised at 4.5k for a pup!!!!!! And not that well bred.
Just bonkers

I am afraid that I and many like minded folk would NEVER purchase a dog from Ireland after things we have seen etc. And I have had dogs from Ireland in the past.

Oh good grief. I've just retired my Labrador. He's over 10 now and although still pretty fit, is all but deaf now. Was going to start looking for a young 'un. This has scared me!

There are still plenty of genuine folk out there who are doing it the same way they always have

I wouldn’t buy a dog from Ireland period!

i would go back to tracking on my hands and knees or pack up all together!
